La Sambuy

We had a marvellous day here. We got the chair lift up to the top of the mountain & had a wander around - although chose not to do any of the hiking routes. The weather was a little cloudy, but the view was still spectacular - I can only imitative how stunning it is on a clear day. The lady we bought tickets from advised us that it would work out cheaper to have a chairlift pass with one activity, so that saved us a little money & was much appreciated. We had a couple of trips on the toboggan, which was great fun & then the children went on the snow-tubing (5 year old) & tubby jump (9 year old). They had amazing fun. Each ticket is €5 & gives 2 goes on each activity (or 1 car on the luge, so 2 people), which we thought was very reasonably priced. There was also a slack line set up & a playground which the children enjoyed, free of charge. We ate at the restaurant, which was good food but quite basic - I’d say perhaps a little overpriced, so I’d probably suggest a picnic. The food was ok & the staff were all friendly. Overall, a great day out & great value.

Grotte et Cascade de Seythenex

We stopped here to visit the Waterfall and explore the Cave System. A very impressive waterfall cascades down from a small pool high up in the rock face. There is a small staircase leading to the top with some great views. The guided tour of the cave takes about 1 hour, the explanations were done in English and French. It is small inside but I didn't find it too claustrophobic. After the cave tour we stopped at the café for a drink. We were told we were welcome to sit and just have a drink or food if we wanted. We looked the menu and had some lunch, it was well priced and the service was friendly. There is also a Zip-Line at the caves, but we did not try this. A great way to spend a couple of hours.
