Hunebed D17

The Hunebeds in Rolde are two together on a nice terrain close to the old church with parking nearby. They are ancient funeral monuments build from big boulders brought to Holland in the ice age by gletschers. The setting is really nice close to the old church and the cemetery lined with wonderful chestnut trees.

Streek Museum Het Dorp van Bartje

Reviewed By Hermes_NL - The Hague, The Netherlands

The "Dorp van Bartje" is a small scale museum and restaurant set within a pleasant garden / small park type of environment in the scenic village of Rolde, on the road to even more scenic Balloo. They have inside and outside Seating and a menu with typical Dutch delicacies such as Pannekoeken (pancakes), Bal Gehakt (meatball), broodje kroket (roll with Croquet) and Uitsmijter (fried eggs).
The place was named after the well known Drenthe province character Bartje, who famously said "Ik bid niet veur bruune bonen" (I do not pray for brown beans). Brown beans and bacon are also on the menu!
It has several exhibits such as a small school and old style farm house and a lot of antique irons. Also the garden is very pleasant centered around a unique three-trunked old oak tree. They keep a couple of animals such as goats which is interesting for children to see.
This is a nice place where we go to to sit down and relax with visiting friends and have an icecream or coffee, and it is also nice for a rest stop and some food when you are bicycling through the lovely Drenthe province.

Jacobuskerk

Reviewed By Hermes_NL - The Hague, The Netherlands

The Jacobuskerk in Rolde was built in 1427 as a catholic church but became protestant during the reformation of 1598. It was nicely restored in 1960-1964 and is now used for protestant and catholic services and also for community events such as the Christmas fair. It is open for viewing daily from 10.00-17.00 hours in the summer season unless there is a service.
It is situated beautifully in the centre of Rolde village, and from the church you can take a nice walk on a lane of chestnut trees to the cemetary and right behind that the two Rolder Hunebeds.

Bowling & Steengril Rolde

Reviewed By Jacob S - The Netherlands

Boerderij Kamps

Reviewed By touch21 - Assen, The Netherlands
