First of all I think the lady with the one star review should revise it. Her experience was bad because she had a site near the bathrooms. Sorry for that. Although I agree that the light on the new restrooms, showers, laundry building is bright, that will not influence my overall review of Mt. Gilead State Park campground.
We found it to be clean and very accommodating. The new cement landings for RVs were great. The facilities were excellent and they are endeavoring to conserve water and electricity. That being said; if you're using the restroom and the lights shut off it proves to be effective if you wave an object over your head. This will trigger the motion detector and voila - "Lights". The showers are on a 5 minute timer but a quick push of the button gives you water again so it really isn't the end of the world.
The layout of the land is nice for hikes and fishing and close quarters so the youngsters have the freedom to play with other kids.
It's small and enjoyable.

In a nutshell, this park during Halloween has what they call a Zombie Park where you ride in a hayride type of wagon with paintball guns bolted down to the wagon. You ride through the woods and shoot zombies.
The ride is very short, I think it was about 10-15 minutes max. Food is at good prices and love the fire. They have a news feed about how the zombies got created which is a great way to start the ride.
The bad business practice is everyone on the wagon runs out of paintballs midway through and expect you to pay $10 more to finish the ride. I treat this the same as providing a tour including transportation to a casino 100 miles away but then telling them they have to pay extra for the trip back after they get there.

My wife and I recently booked and took a hot air balloon ride with Mid -Ohio Balloon Adventures. The owner Gary and his wife were extremely nice and helped to make this hot air balloon ride very enjoyable. The owner Gary is an experienced balloon operator with 35 years of experience and we always felt safe. His wife and crew on the round always had us in view. She also took many great photos. I would highly recommend this company and hopefully will go again in the future.
