Westgate Shopping Mall

Rather than your usual shopping mall, this mall seems to have so many restaurants and eateries on every floor that you are tempted to just hop into one. The shopping is average at best but do come with a hungry stomach. Right next to the MRT and connected to JEM shopping mall as well.

Pandan Reservoir

Reviewed By Sharad V - Singapore, Singapore

This is a man-made Reservoir maintained by PUB (Public Utility Board) of Singapore government. It is located in western part of the city state near Clementi adjacent to West Coast Road. SBS transit bus service 51 or 143 from Jurong East MRT is the best way to reach by public transport. The entire circumference of this water body is approximately 6 kms & can be covered on a bicycle. It is popular with fitness enthusiasts as it has picturesque jogging track.
There are no shops or vendors nearby so it is better to carry drinking water. The entire place is dotted with benches if one wants to sit down for a while.
Fishing in certain location is allowed but anglers are required to use only artificial bait. The area is regularly patrolled by Singapore's national water agency personnel. Wooden fishing deck at two locations is added because of which visitors can walk above water up to a small distance. This place gets quite windy at times & so be aware of lightning when cloud gather before rains.
Pandan Reservoir is surrounded by three roads on three sides west Coast road, Penjuru road & Jalan Buroh. On one side Pandan river runs parallel & meets Johor strait. South side of the Reservoir houses many industrial plants on the Jurong Island whose tall chimney is visible from the other side. West coast road side has two multi-story HDB housing blocks (Pandan & Teban gardens). Especially during the evening visits it is better to have a mosquito patch on your body. There is a small circular fitness corner opposite which is one end of west coast park connector.
At night, the lighting surrounding the Reservoir looks like a necklace.

Jurong West Swimming Complex

Reviewed By GOKL P - Singapore, Singapore

It is Known also as the Aquatic Centre, this swimming complex in the wild, wild west of Singapore can be found before you even hit the Tuas checkpoint and is near the second last MRT stop on the East West line. Look out for the Jurong West Sports and Recreation Centre building and you’ll be pleasantly surprised to discover the generous pool area located above ground on the second level. There are two 50-metre pools, one of which is sheltered, a lazy river, a jacuzzi, as well as a kiddy pool with a fun play structure. The gentle giant of a three-storey water slide that swirls right past the water playground will draw out the adventurous side of you and the kids.
Lazy river Not! The name might be misleading, even the water level of 80cm can be pretty challenging at certain bends. The underwater current and the overhead water spray means we spend the most time in the Lazy river.
You can rent a float for $5 rent, with $3 refund.
