Playa Amarilla (Yellow Beach) Nice enough scenic spot, not too far on the west side of Las Gallettas. Though as some people have pointed out here, not exactly a beach. This is the thing, what does a person define as a beach? Is it the wide-open plain where you can gallop on horses? Is it the secluded and sandy type, where you can just pop over to the bar nearby, and eye up the local talent? Is it the place where you can let the kids play safely, building sandcastles? Maybe fishing off a low cliff into a shallow sea below? Maybe a rocky outcrop where a boat can 'beach' to disembark? They are all beaches, this is a beach too, just not what some people would define as a beach. Anyway, I was having a stroll along the coast, saw this lovely beach, also saw the opportunity to write a review on it here, and felt that I needed to define a beach to people who have a more narrow spectral vision of what a beach is. It's great, you'll get a nice natural swim in it, I'd say there's a fair bit of marine wildlife in the water, though the shops are about a ten-minute walk, go on, have a go, especially if you are the type who wants the sun lounger and massage, with waiters serving drinks to you. Get closer to what your ancestors enjoyed, proper nature, have a walk away from where the tourists hoard, bring some sandwiches and a flask, and a good pair of walking shoes, and enjoy what Tenerife has to offer you.
