I played at this great course yesterday.
Weather was great so that helped.
Greens in good shape not to slow or quick
Fairway v good
Bunkers some may need a little more sand
There isn't a bad hole on this course, the first is a great starter and from there you'll get a taste of what's to come.
I play off 9 and it's no pushover you need to be on your game.
I walked but its very hilly I like to walk. But it's hilly.
We had food in the restaurant after and it was v good and not overly expensive.
Well worth a visit

Lough Mourne Shooting Grounds

Reviewed By niall2shop - Monaghan

My wife and I were searching for something to do recently on a Sunday afternoon. We called to Lough Mourne shooting grounds to see what exactly it’s all about. Neither of us had ever handled a firearm before in our lives. Chilly the chap working the shop started us off on the small pellet guns to allow us to get our eye in as he said. He took us to an enclosed range upstairs where we shot at small targets like balloons in an indoor range. Mighty craic!
We were then taken out to a an outdoor range where we were given a full safety briefing from Chilly. They take safety very seriously as he said these things are not toys and can do a lot of damage if not handled properly. He instructed us how to fire at clay pigeons fired across the range. Under his supervision of course. I can understand how people get addicted to this sport. Deadly laugh! We both took turns and fired at clays fire from automatic machines dotted around the range. Chilly was giving clear instruction all the way. Managed to hit most of my targets.
After that we were shown a hand pistol. Again we were given another briefing in its us and safety was of paramount importance. Sean, took us through everything and allowed us to fire a number of shots. Awesome power in such a small gun. You really would have to respect expert shots of these weapons.
Altogether had a mighty day and definitely would recommend it for a hen or stag or maybe somebody looking for something to do a lazy afternoon. They recommend that you book first as they have competitions on and can be busy. They said that they can tailor the day to size of a the party.
Definitely will be back with a larger party. Good laugh!

The quality of the guinness and hospitality here is the best in town, James and his staff make the pub welcoming and lively, quality live music is provided every weekend.
The selection of sports on TV to suit all tastes and interests.
It is also the base for the local fishing club and Les Harris the proprietor of the well stocked Tacklebox in Main St(tel 0358717185797) is usually on hand to give advice and up to the moment news on local fishing venues.
If you visit "Blayney" without experiencing the Horseman especially if you are an angler then you will not get the best from your stay.
