Caroga Lake is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Caroga, Fulton County, New York, United States. The population was 518 at the 2010 census. The village is in the southern part of the town of Caroga and is northwest of Gloversville. Two lakes, West Caroga Lake and East Caroga Lake are located next to the village.

My husband and I had visited Lapland Lake about 10 years ago for a day visit for cross country skiing (we were dating at the time). We found them "by accident" - we had wanted to take a day trip together for cross country skiing and found them via Google. On that day, we saw the cabins and just loved the setting and promised each other we would return to stay in the cabins and visit this wonderful and peaceful resort again.
After all these years, my husband told me he needed to take a vacation (he works very hard) and I remembered our promise so we booked Suksi Tupa for a couple of nights and we are so glad we did! The cabin was wonderful and Kathy and Paul were so helpful and patient with all our questions. The other employees were also helpful and friendly (I do have to mention Phil -- what a sweetheart!).
On our way to Lapland Lake, we phoned ahead and ordered a couple of meals from their catered Tupa dinner service and I am so glad we did. Very generous and delicious portions (we had enough for two meals) and easy to heat up in the microwave. I have to mention that the beds were very comfortable and the sheets and towels smelled so nice.
Unfortunately (?) - the weather was on the warm side so there were not many trails open for skiing but definitely enough to fill our time. Even with all the cabins around us being filled, this place was so quiet - it was just what my husband needed.
We will be back - I hope it won't be such a long wait this time.

After being on the road for 10 hours (took an hour off for sit down dinner) we arrived late, tired, after dark. We didn't anticipate speed limits of 50 & 55 MPH on the NY Turnpike because of contruction. (Highly recommend the turnpikes, yes there are tolls to be paid, nevertheless, there's less traffice, no signal lights nor stop signs, AND they save miles!) Do not know the names of camp hosts as there were no name tags, nor did they introduce themselves. Guessing they're the owners. A woman walked out of dwelling/ house across from office, crossed in front of our RV with no acknowledgment, over to the office. We exited our coach to follow her.
Once inside the office I apologized for arriving later than we had anticipated. Even that was not appreciated. When she gave instructions as to where our site was, Rob looked out the door to make sense of it. She made a comment, "the is the orientation time that I'm telling you now ". WOW! She was irritated that Rob was not clear on where to go. Granted everyone's tired, it had been a long day, nevertheless, she's lacking respect, quite unpleasant. Did I mention that it's dark out, no exterior lighting whatsoever. Had we the energy, and there was still some sunshine, we would've chosen a rest stop for a few hours over her attitude. Wondering if we interrupt her TV time?
As we hunted for our site, finally a gentleman drove up in a golf cart to show us exactly where the site was and was more helpful. We will never return.
It is beautiful, however we didn't appreciate the way we were treated.

This is a spot where history comes alive for all. The man that lived here was overseer of an immense parcel of land Sir William Johnson. He had a great way of taking with all people and was know for his connection to the natives in the area. The interior of the house will thrill you. From the Hatchet marks on the stair rail to the beds. Where you were told to Sleep Tight Don't Let The Bed Bugs Bite they will explain the meaning. Great for adults and children.

The ONLY Marina in Caroga! The owners are on site to manage, have a nice little store for items you may have forgotten, they also store boats in the winter. They are HUGE supporters of the town and really nice too!

This store has an amazing selection of stained glass art work. Prices start as low as $20. You can find gifts for everyone. I believe they will even customize a piece for you. It wasn't really a museum per se but there are pieces there that have lots of history.
