Giraffe Ranch

Go on a high-quality, guided safari on a working exotic game ranch in Tampa Bay, Florida.

The owner and tour guide gave a fascinating safari tour, which allowed us up-close views of the animals he manages at the ranch. The giraffes, camels, and ostriches were incredibly significant to see. However, there were zebras, deer, tapirs, rhinos, hippos, and more. It is well worth the ticket cost to see these beautiful animals and hear how they thrive.

Pioneer Florida Museum & Village

If you're interested in Florida history or history, in general, this is a wonderful place to explore. We spent about three hours walking around the vast grounds and going inside the meticulously cared for buildings. The main building also houses exceptional exhibits - there is so much to see! We probably could spend two full days here and still have more things to see. So many little details, items, artifacts, placards / info signs to read, etc. that are not to be missed. There's plenty of bathrooms scattered throughout the grounds too; the one nearest to the General Store looked (and smelled! LOL) brand new - it was spotless. If you get a chance to talk to Andy (who is in the main welcome center / building / museum), he is a fountain of knowledge about Florida history, war history, etc. - incredibly engaging, friendly, and knowledgeable about our great state of Florida and beyond. Cannot recommend talking to him enough - truly an asset to the museum. Cannot wait to return to delve deeper into some of the exhibits and / or come by for a festival. A must see!

Joy Lan Drive In and Swap Shop

The Joy-Lan Drive-In is Pasco County's only remaining drive-in theatre! Since 1950, the Joy-Lan Drive-in has treated guests to first run movies in the comfort of their own cars. The theatre features a snack bar serving items such as popcorn, drinks, candy, pizza and hotdogs. The Joy-Lan is closed on Monday and Tuesday and features a Swap Shop on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

This 50-year old drive in is exactly as it should be. It harkens back to the drive ins of decades past, and is quite perfect on a clear cool February night. A cheap night at the movies, it’s only $6pp to get in, and the concessions are inexpensive. $2 gets you a huge cotton candy. $6 for the largest popcorn. >$6 for the large pizza. Located in Dade City, it’s about a 30-40 minute drive from the Tampa area... and well worth the trip.

Went on 1/17/2021 with my 4 year old. She loved it! Since she’s not tall enough, we could only ride the family tube. Very fun! But don’t go if you have back issues. My husband had a blast on the individual and double with my brother. My toddler only wanted to ride for the first hour. Then we went to the igloo. Weather was in the high 60s, so perfect for tubing! Our time slot was 4pm-6pm. I enjoyed seeing the place both during the day and night. But it’s most beautiful at night with all the lights. If you’re only tubing, no need for heavy warm clothing. But if you’re spending time in the igloo like I did making snow angles, snow ball fight, snowman, etc., you’ll need very warm and water resistant clothes (water resistant boots, gloves and a warm hat as well). They also have a little tubing area in the igloo for little kids. Bathrooms are portable. There is a hand washing station. Food selection is limited. The Cuban sandwich was great. Hot cocoa was yummy. Not a lot of options for kids. Wooden picnic tables all around. Phone reception is weak. There are fire pits around the alpine village and I saw people roasting marshmallows! Will do it next time. Beers were $10. Pulled pork sandwich+2Cuban sandwich+hot dog+fries=$36. Highly recommend the experience! The place is very neat and fun! And we were told that our tube got to some 20mph! We got the $27.95 tix, which I think is very good price.
