This is a quality collection of artifacts from Burke County which will take you from the civil war through the present day. It is wonderful how each room is beautifully organized. You certainly can see the amazing furniture which was manufactured in this area. I was particularly moved by the civil war exhibit and the tribute the the local helicopter pilot who lost his life on 9/11 at the pentagon. Plan a good hour to see everything!

What a gem of a place! Must see and visit!! Amazing choices and flavors of the beers! We ended up purchasing several six packs to take home plus a sparkling water! Staff is so friendly and helpful. Great to have a tasting flight and snack we could eat, too! Highly recommend!! Open until 10pm!! Right across from Fairfield Marriott!!

Catawba Brewing Co

I've enjoyed Catawba beers at other places so it was nice to make a first visit to the brewery and taproom. There are places to sit inside and outside and the bartender was friendly and efficient. They offer a wide variety of beers and all of the ones I sampled I enjoyed. If you like IPA style beers, the CLT and the Hopness Monster are great options (buy a six pack of the Hopness Monster to take home - the artwork on the can is great). This is a laid back place where you can relax and enjoy some great beer. They don't serve food so bring something with you if you want to eat. I'm looking forward to my next visit...

The short answer is YES! BMBW is a small but lively venue in Morganton, offering a wide selection of craft beers, some ciders, and wine for the non-beer enthusiasts. Their weekly “tap takeover” on Thursday nights is always fun, and you have a chance to sample craft beers from all over the nation, along with the company rep and lots of “swag” available as you try new beers and listen to live music. They have sofas, tables for 2 or 4, and a stand-up only bar in addition to the bar seating, which is often full. Board games and books are available on shelves near the sofas, and they don’t mind of you bring your kids and even a dog (leashed), plus your own food to snack on while you drink beer, play games, or just visit. A cooler with water and some sodas is also available, and some good cheeses and crackers to purchase. As a senior citizen, my only caveat is to bring a small flashlight or use your phone flashlight app so you can see to read the labels of the many beers on the shelves! The lighting is dim. Also, once the music starts, quiet conversation is difficult because of the acoustics of a pressed tin ceiling and the buzz of lots of chatting goin on. It is a fun place!
