Note- do not follow the map on trip adviser if it still shows it next to McDonald's this is wrongWe sat in the street outside and enjoyed a great six dish tapas which we thoroughly enjoyedService was great and the cost great valueWould eat here again

We organized drinks with family and friends and stayed on for dinner. The team of the Avant Garde was kind, professional and flexible. The food and the wine were truly excellent. One can feel the passion for great meals and matching wines at the most reasonable price. One of the best casual place in Nimes for an excellent relaxed meal. (The tartare is the best kept secret).

As we were wandering around the neighborhood near the Arena, we noticed a tapas bar with a very lively ambiance. It just so happened that the owner was standing outside as we were inspecting the menu. He inquired as to what we were looking for and if we needed advice. After an enjoyable conversation, we decided to stay and dine A la tchatche.The food, the service, the ambiance, everything was wonderful here! Bertrand, the owner, loves what he does and it shows. His staff is great as well! He wants people to feel as welcome in his restaurant as if they were special guests at his home. As my friend is a vegetarian, he prepared her a special salad made from all organic ingredients. He prides himself on going directly to his suppliers and hand-picking all the meat, fruit and vegetables that he serves in his restaurant. The bread put through the toaster oven was a really nice touch! The pan con tomates was different than the versions that I have had at other tapas restaurants and was extremely tasty! Both the magret seché (like duck jerky, but still very moist) and the aiguillettes de canard, which were seasoned to perfection with salt, pepper, and olive oil, were out of the world good. Bertrand also has quite a selection of wines and other drinks. The ambiance was very convivial as well. It seemed as though many of the customers had eaten there before and he had many friends in the place. All made for an excellent evening in Nîmes.If you're in the area, it's right around the corner from the Arena. Whether you are looking for a drink, a good meal, a fun evening, or all of the above, you'll find it "A la tchatche"!
