We visited Le Petit Nicolass every morning before skiing. The breakfast is delicious. Freshly baked bread/croissants and freshly squeezed orange juice! The service is great and the owner will go out of his way to cater for you (we did a 7am pre airport breakfast run on the way home). We will be back!

Veselo Selo Bansko

First time in Bansko We booked a table for day before (highly recommended). The staff were very friendly and attentive and the service was outstanding. We went the night they hosted traditional Bulgarian folk dancing that in itself was amazing to watch and also join in! The dancers were very talented and involved everyone dining in to join in the dancing. The starters we had salads, bean soups and chicken soups. Delicious! For the main we had Ortak beef which includes, grilled lamb, beef lion chops, chicken fillets, chicken legs steaks, beef kebapche, beef Sujuk, beef meatballs, lamb cutlets, chicken skewers, beef skewers, mushroom in butter, french fries and char grilled vegetables - it could feed a tribe! And it sure did for all 9 of us and even had some left overs to take home! And a lot of red wine to wash all of the food down! The food is so cheap and high quality! I would recommend it! We will be coming here again next year!

Very positive place. Nice service, fluent in Bulgarian and English. Good for a coffee or sandwich take away. All was good. However, don’t expect fresh roasted coffee or special brand of coffee that will make you day, but it is okay for the average coffee drinkers.

Strandjata Restaurant

Typical Bulgarian restaurant, located in the village of Rila on the road of the same monastery. Classic Bulgarian cuisine, using old recipes from the monastery. Nice place to spend a while enjoying our delights in good company, our trout and the wine of t

Genuinely a positive surprise. Brand new furniture / decor. Clean bathrooms. Super friendly service (speaks decent English and Spanish). Reasonable menu. Food was good, coffee/cake was also good. Prices were extremely reasonably (...and things “off menu” weren’t a rip off). We came for coffee first on the way to Rila Monastary, and then decided to come back for lunch on the return journey. Highly recommend. (Also an ATM nearby)

A midium-size restaurant located just a few kilometers before the entrance to Rila monastery. Trout caught locally and served grilled, was quite acceptable, and cevapi were not that great.Beware that this restaurant may not accept credit cards so count your cash before ordering! Smoking and non-smoking sections are offered.
