Harding Presidential Sites

The Harding Presidential Sites are getting a makeover! The Harding Home is closed for restoration to its 1920 appearance, the year Sen. Warren G. Harding conducted his famous front porch campaign and won the presidency. The house will reopen in spring 2020, along with the new Warren G. Harding Presidential Center. In the meantime, visit the Harding Home presidential gravesite as you follow the exciting work going on at the Harding Home and presidential center at our Harding Home Presidential Site Facebook page!

Aug 2017 visit. I knew , after starting in the press cottage getting tickets to waiting on the beautiful front porch that this would probably be special in terms of presidential sites, and it did not disappoint. I’ve only been to a third of the presidential sites so far, but this one I’d say bar none felt the most like a HOME, rather than a house museum. It felt like the Hardings just went for coffee, or a drink... They were just beginning plans to expand the facility with a museum, with hopefully more artifacts and more of a multimedia presentation of their lives and short presidency. The house didnt SEEM to need restoration to me, but if that’s going to keep it open another century, then great. Just hope they leave most of it intact as it was ;) The docent was a local teacher and I don’t remember his name 3 years on, but he was great. I would definitely come back to see the completed projects.

A beautiful park space, a majestic memorial. Lots of history to see and read. Ample parking - you'll need about 30 min, and go later in the day to avoid crowds.
