1. Caloundra RSL Military Display

The Caloundra RSL Military Display is a unique time capsule of collectibles and memorabilia from World War I through to recent conflicts. It is of great historical and educational value to the community. The Military Display is staffed by friendly volunteers from the RSL Sub Branch willing to guide you through the museum or answer your questions regarding the RSL Memorial Gardens or Caloundra Headland Memorial Walkway. The display is open from 10am to 2pm every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. During school holidays the display is open from 10am to 2pm Monday to Friday. Group Bookings and Excursions can be catered to on request. Educational activities and resources are also available for children aged 6 to 16. Please contact the Curator via email [email protected] or phone (07) 5438 5871 to arrange a suitable time for your group visit. ***Please note that regular opening times may change due to COVID-19 restrictions. Hence we advise that you contact us prior to any visit.

For a fun and interesting family outing you can’t go past a visit the Caloundra Lighthouses at Canberra Tce, Caloundra. They are open every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, 9:00am - 3:00pm. You can climb both lighthouses, but the 1896 structure is not for the feint hearted. Both offer spectacular ocean views, and you can see the ships rounding the marker, and entering Moreton Bay with the sand cliffs of Moreton Island behind. Look the other way and the Glass House Mountains are laid out before you. Learn about Caloundra’s history and the lighthouses. The experience is a very reasonable $5.00 entry for adults, with children free. When the flag is flying they are open . Booked tours can be arranged, $5.00 entry for adults,minimum $40.

Only cost $2, volunteer staff very knowledgeable on the areas history and the lighthouses.the original lighthouse is and experience to climb up inside, but the view is great, 360 digree. The newer lighthouse is easy to walk up, higher than original much better views of Glasshouse Mtns, Bribie Island, Moreton island and Caloundra coast line. If you get the opportunity do it.

Sunday AM is a fun time to experience a Caloundra’s Sunday Morning Street Market. A main street in Caloundra is closed off for Sunday Market. A variety of hand made jewelry, soaps, art, etc. . A time to enjoy a Sunday morning brekkie with family and friends on the street as you watch the people enjoy a fun Sunday outing.

The Caloundra Headland Memorial Walkway was dedicated as a War Memorial on Remembrance Day 1995. The walkway extends from Kings to Shelly Beaches. Along the walkway there are many sites dedicated to the memory of those that contributed to the defence of Australia. This is a relatively easy walk showcasing the coastline whilst providing places to pause and reflect on those who served our nation.

There is no better way to start the day, than an early morning walk along the coastal walk from Bulcock Beach, Caloundra to Kings Beach. The colourful skies are beautiful and there are plenty of places to stop and take photographs. There are some great Cafes at Kings Beach to stop at and have breakfast before you return to Caloundra This is an easy flat walk and well worth the early morning start
