Bar Restaurante Otero

Visited here on a Sunday afternoon after visiting the Roman ruins, and it was a very pleasant experience (although parking is kind of annoying because it's all street parking with very little street to begin with). The atmosphere is very calm and relaxed, and the service reflects that as well (in a good way). You have a beautiful view of the beach and ruins. We didn't have a big lunch, but the portions are a good size. We had a nice (big) fresh mixed salad with tuna, and a large plate of tasty boquerones, which weren't too battered/greasy and had a nice bit of salt on them. We lingered a bit and had some good chocolate mousse and coffees while enjoying the view.

Las Rejas

We were staying in Zahara de los Atunes for a few weeks and made a trip to see the ruins in Bolonia. Having picked through a a bit of online restaurant info, we settled on alas Rejas. To say we were pleasantly surprised is a huge understatement! This place is absolutely fantastic, authentic in every way. We love seafood, so just past the amazing croquetas (try the sepia ink flavour) and a few other great starters, we went for a few types of fish and clams, all perfectly prepared. There are a few dining rooms, a bar area, and an outdoor terrace as you enter... so a lot of choice. Best to make a reservation, as it's quite crowded and wouldn't have accommodated last minute arrivals easily. The wine list was solid, however we were here for lunch so ordered a decent northern Verdejo white. The service is as expected in Spain, so order a drink and relax a bit.We tried many restaurants on our visit to Zahara and honestly this place in Bolonia is in our top three. There is quite a bit of parking available, so don't let the crowded village centre convince you it's not worth continuing to the restaurant.Highly recommended, give it a try!

Antonio Restaurant

We ate at this restaurant numerous times during our vacation and overall this restaurant deserves its reputation as one of the best Fish Restaurants in the region with perfect tuna and an excellent selection of fresh fish. The service is very professional, courteous and friendly without being overbearing. The only negative is do not get placed in the annex area if at all possible, it is stuffy and has an unpleasant aroma.

For those of you who visit Tarifa and nearby beaches , you will probably have heard of “Punta Paloma “ a gorgeous , white sandy beach . Approaching from Tarifa on the N340 , turn off at Km 74. ( Look for “Venta Olivo “ on the corner and turn left here - see the sign “Punta Paloma” )Drive along this road for about 2 km. until you come to a fork in the road. Keep to the right at the fork ,approaching a sign that says ‘ Military zone” .This is a bit off- putting as it feels as though you are entering private territory. You will pass through some sand dunes either side. Keep going until eventually you will see a small sign that says “ El Mirlo” ( We nearly turned back as we couldn’t believe it could be so tucked away ). To book, call +34 956 685100 You will be glad you made the effort . It is a charming, rustic and typically Spanish restaurant . There are several areas ,including a rustic terrace overlooking the sea. Inside there are 2 dining areas One with stunning views and the other area next to the cosy and inviting bar. The menu offers something for everyone. We chose the home grown tomatoes grilled tuna, topped with a slice of locally caught red tuna . It melted in my mouth. I have never tasted tomatoes with such flavour or tuna so fresh. My partner ordered the cigalas ( similar to fresh scampi but with shell on ) . They grilled them perfectly with a drizzle of olive oil and garlic .At 4 euros each ,I thought they were very reasonable. Ext time. We will try the chef’s suggestion of Sashimi tuna and Tataki They offer fresh fish of the day and various daily specials .They offer excellent quality steak, pork and kebabs.Home made paella is also very popular . Children’s portions are available as well as delicious home made desserts . It is a family owned restaurant and the staff couldn’t be more helpful We will definitely be going back . They really do know what they are doing. I cant believe Ithat we havent discovered it before . I only hope that my review doesn’t make it so popular that next time I wont be able to find a table ! it was certainly one of the best finds of our holiday. For another day out , take the LEFT fork, it will bring you to a lovely sandy beach . There are several rustic chiringuitos . . We have enjoyed many lazy days here at the Chiringuito Volare .
