This place has evolved from a small, busy take-out from a.........Blue Bus! to a regular, sit down restaurant. What hasn't changed is the quality and size of the food. You can get a large, juicy burger with a side that is very good food, and will fill you up. Wait staff is very friendly and helpful, and it doesn't take long to get your food. They have other food offerings as well, but I always get the burgers. Points off for the loud TV with Fox news etc. not my fav.

Black Water Bend Espresso

While we were staying in Clam Gulch, we had to make the trek to Homer several times to go fishing. My buddy who's place we were staying at told us we "had to have a blender bender". So we pull into this little road side coffee stop. Boy o Boy these things are delicious. We had the triple espresso shot caramel blender bender. It's like desert in a cup.

Russian Samovar Cafe

Reviewed By Cara L

Came here as recommended by our lodge host in Homer. We found this cafe padlocked with a glowing OPEN sign so we investigated. In less than a minute, Nina, in her full Russian attire, arrived in her Honda Odessey. She greeted us warmly with her heavy accent and welcomed us into her colorful wacky little cafe. She served us borscht, pelmeni and cream puffs. Her food was quite delicious and she was most amusing. I would come back here if visiting in the area. Total bill was only $66 with tea and she handpicked ingredients for her tea. If you want sausages, you have to call in advance. A donation of $20 to her fund for food for kids in Russia will give you a bag of her delicious tea. We didn't ask to dress up but she insisted and it was fun. This was an unexpected interesting experience that adventurers shouldn't pass up. She accepts cash and PayPal. She also offers lodging.

Took a good hour for a sandwich and some pancakes but the pancakes were SO FLUFFY and had fresh blueberries.
As a local, fresh blueberries are a luxury most exquisite when it isn't berry season.
I'll go again, it's a decent enough place. The price is a tad spendy, but welcome to Alaska.

If you need a drink, coffee, tea, etc, then this place will work. If you can wait to get into Homer, or Soldotna, then keep driving. We ordered a couple Mochos, and they were not good, but wanting something warm, it worked for us.
