We met some friends here since it was a halfway point for all of us. Having never been here before, I wondered if it would be any good since the decor is a little outdated and it's kind of a dark bar. But as we got settled into a room near the back, we watched the place fill up with people, we knew the food had to be good. We were not disappointed. We had pizza and the guys had the special of the day - a steak sandwich, which they said was great. Would stop back here again.

Pizza Ranch Portage

Hungry for pizza, but your freind just wants a salad, and grandma is up for chicken? Pizza Ranch has it all! The pizza is wonderful -- I love the chicken bacon ranch with double cheese, and the chicken tortilla soup is incredible. The salad bar is vast -- everything from olives to cottage cheese, puddings and fresh greens and a choice of dressings. Never have enjoyed any better fried chicken. Can't miss a good meal if you are at Pizza Ranch, because you serve yourself what you want and how much you want.

I am not a huge fan of Pizza Hut but if all the Pizza Hut's would follow this Hut's lead I might become more of a fan. We travel the midwest & Pizza Hut is all over but many of our experiences have been less than good. I ordered the special which was a Stuffed Crust. I had it delivered to a local motel. As special instructions I wanted 2-plates & napkins. (Some hut's use the excuse they were all out or "Just plain forgot") The delivery person came armed with a bag consisting of 4-plates, a handful of napkins, packets of grated cheese & crushed red pepper. Most of the time we get none of these. The Portage, WI Pizza Hut deserves a high five from corporate. I forgot to say that it also was delivered on time & hot.

A NY style by the slice pizza or whole pies. Many varieties to go or eat in.Calzones pasta, and the best gyros anywhere around. a slice is 1/8 of an 18" pizza ,plenty for 1 person. Excellent crust and seasonings. Gyros, sliced off the spit, too full to hold in your hand.

I ordered a supreme pizza and overall it was pretty good. It was fresh and the sausage wasn't a bad as most places in the area. For the price of the pizza, I was hoping for more generosity on some of the toppings. More sausage than anything else. The spaghetti and meatballs were poor. This place advertises fresh, but it was hard to tell if the pasta was fresh because it was overcooked and the marinara sauce was horrible. There was a very vinegary/lemony taste to the pasta or sauce...that was the only thing I could taste. I took 2 bites and threw the rest out. The meatballs were average, but there were a few hard things in them. It was probably the worst pasta dish I ever had. If you eat there, I suggest the pizza. Their calzones and sandwiches might be good, but I haven't tried those and I'm reluctant to after that horrible spaghetti and meatballs. I was really hoping we'd finally get a great place to eat in town, but doesn't seem to be. I think they should take pasta items off the menu until they are perfected. I rather have Franco-American spaghetti.
