Top 5 Performances in San Jose, California (CA)

December 20, 2021 Claudia Navarrete

Welcome to bustling San Jose, where Silicon Valley meets Spanish history and modern edifices sit alongside meticulously restored 19th-century buildings. Such is the contrast of this city rich in tradition and, thanks to the tech industry, just plain rich. Five star-hotels and fine restaurants line the streets of the restored downtown area, and the cultural scene is thriving with museums, theater and art to rival any world-class hub. Don't miss the Tech Museum of Innovation, an exploration of Silicon Valley and its impact on the area. History buffs will relish the old mansions and can delve into the city's past at the History Museum of San Jose. Save time for a round of golf or the locals' other favorite pastime, sipping coffee and people-watching at a crowded cafe.

Had never been to this venue and lived here all my life. Some friends suggested taking in their production of Rocky Horror and it was fantastic. Intimate, engaging and very fun. I'll definitely watch for other shows and be back

San Jose Civic

The San Jose Civic is managed and operated by San Jose Theaters, a division of Team San Jose. Built in 1936, it is a Spanish Mission style dual-level venue that hosts a variety of events including concerts from major touring artists, as well as a variety of other events (e.g. big-name comedians, sporting events, business conferences). A major, multi-million dollar renovation led to a grand re-opening of the Civic in October, 2012. In December of 2013, its name officially changed to City National Civic until May of 2019. The Who kicked off their first headlining tour of the U.S. here in 1968. This historic venue has also hosted The Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, Barbra Streisand and many more. FAST FACTS: * 2,850 seats (flexible seating plans available) * State-of-the-art sound and HD video systems * Stage size: 112' x 35'
