This place was amazing. Food was crazy good, Vicente and Maria are amazing hosts! There's no doubt this is a must for some authentic spanish food and super sweet meets!Thank you very much Julien for such motivating words and for such a high rating in your comment. This is by no stretch of the imagination âfine diningâ, but it is the next best thing. The owner/host is friendly and welcoming and multilingual (though depth of language ability is clearly limited). Speaking Spanish, even my execrable version of it, is clearly a plus. Artisanal beer is excellent, food (we shared a medio pizza americana and were each stuffed) plentiful and tasty, service relaxed and informal. This is great place to come and spend an hour or two over lunch. Coffee is good and the stracciatella hellado as good as I have had anywhere. Setting/decor is tropical fine and comfortable. Amazingly quiet for being only one small block away from the Malecón. We havenât eaten anywhere else in Puerto Lopez, but we did spend a few hours walkabout and didnât see anything nicer. Fours stars only because it doesnât compare to the Pierre or Chez Gallopin, but a clear five star for rural/ beach Ecuador. Well worth going. One other couple there while we were, and they had clearly returned for the second or third time. A very hearty and sincere positive recommendation.

Lovely Italian restaurant with a great atmosphere. Very tasty pasta, homemade in house. Beware of ordering the off the menu house special - it was very delicious but twice the price of anything else on the menu so a bit of sticker shock when the bill came. Tiramisu desert was tasty.

We've been in Puerto Lopez for a week and we've eaten here three times. Other restaurants or basic eateries have no comparison to Ancora's menu and meals. We've both had the "Octopus Gallega Style", Vern's had the Tenderloin twice. We've had the tuna salad, green salad and the Caprese salad. I had the shrimp and the calamari dinners. Vern enjoys an espresso after our meal and for our dinner drinks I always enjoy the strawberry smoothie. Vern drinks the (plain) lemonade. Both our favorites is the Octopus. neither of us have ever had it prepared so it comes out this tender. Fantastic! The owners are a couple, he's Spanish and she's Ecuadorian, no wonder the food is so awesome. the service is outstanding. Highly recommend.

We are suckers for a good wood fired pizza so when we saw this oven cooking food outside of the restaurant we knew we had to stop in.We started with the bruschetta which was fresh and delicious. My husband ordered the pizza which he enjoyed and I ordered the carbonara which was ok.The service was a bit slow as they seemed to have to go out to a local store to get the drinks upon ordering. I never did receive the glass of wine that I ordered.Thanks for the comment. I'm sorry for the inconvenience regarding the wine cup. In order to face the carnival I had to hire a new waiter and I believe that the error is due to inexperience and pressure to cage undergo, we were full of people. And yes, we had finished fresh drinks and waiting for the new ones to cool down we were forced to buy them out to avoid inconvenience to customers and offer better service. We thank you for your kind assistance and we are waiting to offer you a cup of wine to make us forgive. Thank you.Luca
