Restaurant From The Traders Fudu Hotel

I was invited by my local host for a working lunch at the Nishimura today (China time). We all ordered the same set lunch which comprised (1) Japanese salad; (2) steamed egg with mushroom and tuna; (3) selected sashimi; (4) sushi; (5) thinly sliced beef with vegetable served in teppanyaki style; (6) braised ox tongue with taro; (7) fruit platter; and (8) udon/noodle. Although the set did not include miso soup or pickles usually included in Japanese sets, all of us were quite full and satisfied. Each set costed RMB208. Whilst I had better sashimi and sushi in Japan, Hong Kong, London and Melbourne, I was surprised to find the relatively good quality of the food served in a second-tier city here in Mainland China. Certainly it excelled in quantity and variety in a lunch set. It should be a good and safe choice for travellers in Changzhou ! See the uploaded photos for some of the dishes we had today.

We stopped at the Traders Fudu Hotel in Changzhou for lunch yesterday while on our way to Shanghai. When we popped in at 1.05 pm, the waitress reminded us that we would have only 25 minutes to pick our food unless we ordered a la carte. But we have little option as the a la carte items were not cheap and the buffet seemed t be a better deal. So, we quickly moved around the buffet counters and covered our table with several plates of different food/dishes.The Coffee Garden did provide many choices and varieties. But the quality was just average. Even though it was near closing time, some of the staff behind the cooking counters were either chatting amongst themselves or nowhere to be found. There were many almost empty trays/pots. Those that were still available were dry and unpleasant looking. At the end, we did fill up our stomachs before leaving, though. The lesson I learnt and wish to share with you is: if you go to a buffet, make sure you will be there as soon as the restaurant is open for business, and never arrive later than one hour or more before closing. Otherwise, go for a la carte.

we had a group of 5 expats on business in Changzhou, and wanted to try something a little different than the standard pub food in the same street, we were recommended to try this new Thai Resturant just around behind the Shangri La.there were a limited No of dishes available, but still more than ample selection, the serving sizes are VERY generous, 1 person struggles to finish one dish,Beers are real cold which is a nice change after the warm beers we have had in China they have internet TV and we changed it to watch the Australian rules Football, needless to say a few beers as wellthe owner speaks excellent English so no comunication issuesOverall a great resturant for eating and socializing, its called Royal Thai, but they have dishes inspired by the owners travels all over Asia.Evidently they even have Sunday Brunch on if you want a good feed of bacon and eggs
