We stayed here for 2 nights. The place is very nice, with a lot of green space, outdoor terrace and two small lakes. Fishing is also permitted, but you need to know that is "catch and release".The rooms are very clean and big, with balconies. The bathroom was very tidy and towels also. The breakfast was great, with home made salami and pastrami, with tomatoes and pepper from their garden. The milk was also fresh, from the their cows. The hosts are very attentive and they make you feel really like home. I recommend this place with all my heart.

Lovely place to stay

I stayed here a few times with my family and also with my friends. The hosts are very warm and kind and can provide you with a lot of infos about the village and what is worth seeing. The house is right at the entrance of Saschiz, on the left side (when you come from Brasov). They have parking lots in front of the house so you can leave your car here. They have three rooms, each of them with a bathroom and TV. Slippers and towels are also provided. I must mention that the rooms are extra clean and warm during winter days. Breakfast is available if you mention this the previous evening, with delicious local food. I highly recommend this place.

Pension Cartref

The pension is a traditional 100 years Saxon house with a view to the UNESCO patrimony monuments, the Evangelic Church and the Defence fortress built in 1307. the Saschiz village is situated in Nature 2000 area. The last medieval inhabited fortress, Sighisoara, is at a 10 minutes driving distance. The pension hosts the only ''Cooking Museum'' in Romania and a ''Saxon Family'' small museum, with free access to our tourists. Bycicles are provided free of charge by us and a new bike road is linking Viscri-Saschiz and Sighisoara, all of them UNESCO sites. Ecological traditional food prepared from products from our farm, after traditional recipes going back 500 years are offered at the pension. One can experience the home made bread making and the home made butter production in our court or taste the jams and honey produced also for Prince Charles (UK) at the local food processing workshops in the village. The Roman Fortress called ''The Giants Fortress'', placed at the margin of Saschiz, still waits to be discovered after archeologists started the excavations in 1949. Bird and animal watching can be done on individual base in the area. Various other circuits and excursions cadn be organised upon request. Transport from Sighisoara railway or Targu Mures airport can be organised upon request and will be charged.

The place is 15 minutes drive from Sighisoara, in the village named Saschiz, right on the main road. So the two rooms with windows at the road are noisy (being a major route between Brasov and Tg Mures the traffic is important). It is not that traditional nor cozy or coquette, the general impression was of cheap. The host was polite. We had breakfast which was basic (butter with jam, some ham and some cheese, tomatoes, coffee and tea, supermarket stuff but the good thing tea was natural harvest from real flowers or leafs). We had also lunch and I ate better traditional saxon dish the next day in Sighisoara. It is not like a holiday retreat, is more like a transitional place for one or two nights stay. I would recommend other saxon villages like Biertan, Alma Vii, Mălâncrav, Daneș etc - they are more traditional and away from main routes - or other accommodation in Saschiz deep in the village not on the main road (we stayed the next day in Biertan, payed with 9 euros more per night but had breakfast included and more quality)

Great place - good food - amazingly clean - nice and kind hosts

Reviewed By StGaby G

The house looks great and it's very clean. You can easily see that they do care what they are offering to the guests. This is one of the reasons why they have 9.8 score on booking in 2018. Our room was surprisingly big, as well as the bathroom was, with great white towels & hairdryer. You can see from the rooms the village fortress, up on a hill, which was very cool. It's very quiet in the village and I think that this makes it a great location for a quiet vacation. We had a great dinner (lamb soup and gulash - a specific hungarian food made with beef/pork meat and potatoes, a little spicy) and breakfast. The owners are very nice people. The house is not smoker friendly, so you will have to enjoy the beautiful yard for this. There is parking place inside the yard and the location is easy to be found. You will have to follow the sign placed on the main road. You can ride the bike or go hiking near the village. I think it's a great stop that you won't regret in your Transilvanian tour :).
