A fascinating day with a knowledgeable and experienced guide, Craig, who shared his extensive knowledge of plants, animals, weather, land usage before and since the arrival of Europeans. Craig was a very thoughtful and courteous host who anticipated our every need. From our river walk beside the Dawson River, we drove through the paddocks and the cool, shady gorges of Wallaroo Station to the clifftops overlooking Arcadia Valley, the settlement of which is quite a story to be revealed on the tour. Stops along the way included fascinating Aboriginal art and stunning rock formations. The walks are short, over uneven ground but quite manageable by two unfit, almost 80 year olds. Boobook will provide walking poles, which we found useful. From, Roma, it is an early start and a long day, but the bus is comfortable and opportunities to get out and stretch, including lavatory stops, are frequent. Morning tea and lunch were substantial and delicious. I highly recommend this tour.

Enjoy an adventure to the heart of outback tradition and legend. Starlight's Cruise Experience provides you with a choice of cruising on the only paddlewheeler west of the Great Divide or the equally charming Thomson Princess Riverboat. Cruise down the splendid Thomson River at sunset with drinks (BYO alcohol) and nibbles, watch the birds come home to roost on the riverbanks and learn about the local flora, fauna and history. As darkness falls, the boat moors at the Kinnons’ bush campground for a 2-course stockman’s dinner around the campfire. Local barefoot bush poet, Scotty, charms the crowd with his bush ballads. After dinner watch the ‘Starlight’s Spectacular Sound & Light Picture Show’ – a movie in the open-air riverbank theatre. This exclusive movie was commissioned by the Kinnons to celebrate the tale of Captain Starlight. Finally, enjoy tea and damper by the campfire under the stars.

Inclusions: Hearty beef stew with mash potatoes and vegetables, followed by dessert, Billy tea with damper.

Exclusions: You are welcome to BYO alcoholic beverages

On our Cobb & Co Stagecoach Experience you’ll travel in a restored stagecoach on our award-winning tour – first at a leisurely pace through town and then full-tilt along a stretch of the original Longreach-Windorah mail route. Hear the pounding hooves of the magnificent horses on the outback dirt road. Hear the rattle and creak of the coach. Hold on to your hat for the only stagecoach gallop in Australia! It’s exhilarating. It’s entertaining. And it’s the closest you can get to feeling what it would have been like in the pioneer past. After the ride (depending on your itinerary) slow down with a traditional smoko (scones, jam, cream with tea). You'll also enjoy a classic Australian bush movie in retro cinema seats, followed by our Harry Redford Old Time Tent Show – a live performance featuring the very entertaining Kinnon boys. This is good old fashioned fun for all the family and is a tribute to the old travelling shows.

Inclusions: Home-baked 'smoko' of scones with cream, jam and tea.

Exclusions: Optional extra of a billy can lunch, which consists of a traditional corned beef or chicken sandwhich with home-made relish, home-made biscuit, a piece of fruit and a softdrink.
