Top 5 Historical & Heritage Tours in Ilha do Sal, Ilha do Sal

March 14, 2022 Marlin Saiz

The Cape Verdean island of Sal is all about the beach, baby. White sand stretches along glassy turquoise waters—perfect for a lazy day of sunning or some heart-pumping watersports. Snorkelers and divers will find plenty of tropical fish, turtles, and dolphins to look at. On dry land, kids (and grownups!) will marvel at the Terra Boa mirage, an optical illusion that conjures a peaceful-looking lake in the middle of a large, flat plain.

The first stop is the Bay of Murdeira, with the opportunity to photograph this natural beauty and Monte León, we visited the small fishing and port town of Palmeira, followed by Buracona, with its natural pools and the famous "Blue Eye". After lunch, we will delight in the magic of Terra Boa, where there is a unique opportunity to take funny pictures with mirages. Visit to Espargos, the capital of the island and "Shark Bay" to see "the local inhabitants". In the visit to the Salinas de Piedra de Lume, High light of walk, you can float in a water 26 times more salty than the sea water. A truly unique experience

My husband actually stumbled across the tour from Trip Advisor and was in touch with Justin who had given us a low down of what we would be seeing and what to expect the day before. Justin was a really good tour guide. We really enjoyed being shown around by him. He explained the areas we were going to and made a real effort to get to know my husband and me. We had a lot of fun, good music and jokes on the way which made the journeys between each destination go quicker. We went to all the places which we wanted - Wreck of Santa Maria and Viana Desert and others. Taking a Private Tour was defiantly a better option than a group tour because were allowed to roam freely and really closely to attractions. The only reason why we have given this tour a 4 is because we had to prompt Justin to give us information on the areas we were visiting. Overall though we really enjoyed the trip. Thank you for showing us around the Island.
