Historically in Cheshire, it is on the Wirral Peninsula, along the west bank of the River Mersey, opposite the city of Liverpool. The Birkenhead Urban Area defined as the contiguous built-up area along the eastern side of the Wirral had a total population of 325,264 in the 2011 Census. In the 2011 census, the Parliamentary constituency of Birkenhead had a population of 88,818. The Birkenhead and Tranmere electoral ward, covering a much smaller area, had a population of 15,879.

Best greek restaurant on the wirral and I have tried them allStaff wonderful, food superb and a totally friendly atmosphere Whether it's your family or any other everyone joins in.No hesitation in recommending this greek restaurant to anyone.10 out of 10 for everything. Noya serves up wholesome Mediterranean based food, mainly of the Turkish & Greek variety although there are also some pasta based dishes. You will not go away Hungary, the portions are huge! The staff are friendly & attentive. The restaurant is located in the centre of Upton village on the Wirral & is very popular with the locals.Hi thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and for your lovely comments, we are very pleased to hear you enjoyed your night!Can I just ask why the review of only 3/5 stars, given the nice comments you have made. We booked this on the fly just an hour and a half prior to a concert at the Floral Pavilion. Even the phone call to book made me smile as the person sounded delighted to take the booking.We received a lovely welcome and the waiter went through the specials, explaining them clearly to us. The food came in good time and was the most delicious food I've had in a restaurant for a long time - totally home-made and fresh. Prices were very reasonable and we came away fully satisfied and delighted with the experience!!Thank you all concerned! :-)

Bacchus Taverna is a modest looking little place on a busy Liverpool street near the cruise ship dock, but it's a gem. The inside is tidy and welcoming and our waiter was very kind and helpful. We had Kleftiko (slow roasted lamb shoulder) and Keftedia (lamb & pork meatballs in a fragrant tomato sauce). Our main dishes were accompanied by green beans with tomato & onion, rice lightly dressed with tomato sauce & roasted potatoes. We shared a plate of Saganaki for our appetizer. The lamb shoulder was fork tender, the 6 meatballs were handmade & tasty. All the food was spiced perfectly & our waiter took wonderful care of us! Definitely a placed we'd enjoy returning to.

We where a party of five, the restaurant was busy but we where fortunate to get a table. The waitress greeted us with a warm welcome and showed us to our window seat. Menus delivered and drinks order taken, now for choice of food. Starters we chose Greek salad, prawn cocktail, garlic creamy mushrooms and kalamari. Main Courses, Spicey meatballs, Kleftika, and salmon. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the Chefs special sauce for the salmon which is served in a separate dish. The service was excellent and Stefano was very attentive,without being intrusive.Great atmosphere, excellent food, great value for money. We'll be back.
