My partner and I travelled across Norway for a week and this was by far our best meal out. The food was fantastic and the drinks just as good. The service was excellent and recommended certain dishes and explained how different dishes were cooked (spoiler alert - the slow cooked steak is amazing).I have read other reviews say the portions aren't that big - I actually disagree. I believe the portion sizes are perfect, I left fulfilled but not too full. I had the steak and brownie for dessert. The Jamaican Pornstar cocktail is inspiring. Wonderful food, service and atmosphere! Both the stuffed chicken and hake were excellent as was the dessert of the day. We made a reservation and requested a table by a window. A lovely view even on a rainy evening. Our server was efficient and very welcoming.

In Norway it's surprisingly a challenge to get some decent local food, which makes this place Pingvinen such a great value. Definitely the best plukkfisk in Norway, awesome local beers and ciders, fish pies and nice desserts, all served in a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere.Book in advance as this is a small bar and quite busy during the seasons.

Naboen is a wonderful contemporary Norwegian restaurant. Itâs a little off the tourist path, so it feels a little more authentic and catering to locals than some central Bergen restaurants. But itâs still just a short walk from Ole Bull Plass and Torgallmenningen. Prices were reasonable by Bergen standards and the food was excellent. Particularly good at our table were the moose and the monkfish. Both were expertly prepared and delicious. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Very happy we chose to eat here!

Had an excellent time at our "local", the staff made us feel very welcome and the atmosphere and ambience was spot on. Fully recommend the pizzas too, you won't be disappointed. Thanks to Wayne, Charlotte, Marlin and Sara for making us feel at home at, in my humble opinion, the best bar in Bergen
