Lord Shiva Temple

Very holy place for the Hindus and known as dakshin Kashi. It is considered important for after death procession. In the temple all the three gods brahma Vishnu Mahesh are there with mata patvati. First took the darshan of adjacent kalbhairav and then proceeded towards the harihareshwar old temple with wooden pillars. Most important thing is the pradakshina route which starts from the back side of the temple and slowly climbs to about 10-15 mins to the top of the hill. The view from here is amazing.

Bankot Fort

Reviewed By letzseed - Mumbai, India

This is fort is at an off beat location while travelling from Harihareshwar towards the Jetty. Initially while driving towards the fort we were a bit skeptical as the road was too steep however having a powerful vehicle like Xylo made the climb look quite easy. On reaching the fort we were stunned by its beauty and wondered how such a beautiful location was not frequently visited by tourist. The fort is at the top of the hill and smaller in size compared to other similar forts but its the one offering spectacular views 270 degrees view of the Ocean. On a clear day we can see crystal clear blue waters of the Sea with few small boats doting in it. Fort also has a Cannon right at its entrance gate which takes us back to the era wherein how critical the fort location would have been for stopping the enemy ships from entering the interiors of the region. The fort thought ill maintained has a huge water tank at the entrance providing clean drinking water for the tourist. Its advised to carry own lunch/ tiffin for the visit as their are no food stalls within the vicinity of the fort. Overall its a great location to hang around with family or friends and shoot some memorable snaps.

Shrivardhan Beach

recently we happened to visit this place the experience was really fantastic. I went through previous reviews but everybody mentioned to have traveled with their own car. But if you want to travel via public transport then there is a way as well. The is state transport bus that start from Pune to Shrivardhan everyday at 6:15. Its 6 hours journey Shrivardhan. The road is bumpy at present but we noticed ongoing road construction at various places. If you are travelling from mumbai then there are plenty of buses start from mumbai for Shrivardhan. There is another route that includes train + state transport bus if you want to reduce bus journey. One can travel till panvel from pune or mumbai via train , then take another train to mangaon and then take state transport bus from mangaon to shrivardhan. You can hop on auto rickshaws to travel within Shrivardhan , they are mostly chip. But walking on small lanes of Shrivardhan is also pleasant experience as mostly the lanes are well covered by trees and you get to see coconut gardens and green wealth of Shrivardhan breathing pure air which all these metros are poor about. Shrivardhan to Diveagar is short and scenic 1 hour journey. There are plenty of mini doors run between and charge as low as INR 40 per person. same is the case with Shrivardhan to Hari-hareshwar. both hari-hareshwar and diveagar are must visit on this trip to Shrivardhan. Dont miss the parikrama to shiva temple at harihareshwar as the views with simply mesmerize you.

Visited the temple around noon. The temple has good architecture. The original gold idol of Lord Ganesha was stolen a few years ago. You feel a different vibe when you visit the temple. Must visit if you are in the area.
