Amravati ( pronunciation (help·info)) is a city in the state of Maharashtra, India. Amravati is the 2nd most populous metropolitan city of Vidarbha after Nagpur. It is the 6th most populous metropolitan area in the state of Maharashtra. It is the administrative headquarters of the Amravati district. It is also the headquarters of the "Amravati Division" which is one of the six divisions of the state. Amravati is famous for its educational culture and high literacy rate. Literacy rate of Amravati is 93 percent. Among the historical landmarks in the city are the temples of Ambadevi, Shri Krishna and Shri Venkateshwara.
