El arbolito is right on the highway, next to an overpass. Although the place does not look fancy, the food is fantastic. There are a lot of options including yucatecan-style food like cochinita pibil and relleno negro tacos. We went there for a snack after diving in the nearby Chac Mool and Kukulkan cenotes, and the tacos were fantastic. After you pay at the cashiers for the number of tacos you are going to eat (and a beverage, if you choose to), you go to the taco counter and tell the ladies behind what you want. They ask you if you want rice and refried beans in your tacos. After you get them, there is a table where you can choose the hot sauce and additional trimmings (onions, pico de gallo, etc).

We ate at El Arbolito, a small guisada taqueria on the main street in Tulum pueblo after an early morning trip to Coba. Guisadas tacos are tacos made with small, soft corn tortillas made with items you choose from a variety of clay pots. We had chicken mole, stewed pork, zucchini, stuffed/fried jalapeno, etc. You order at the counter pointing to what you want. You pay by the piece.Having not had breakfast, we were very hungry after our early morning visit to Coba. I requested a local option for an early lunch instead of an international brand coffee house and our driver took us here. 10 tacos and 2 horchata (a cold drink that tastes like rice pudding) as slightly more than the equivalent of $10 US in pesos. I recommend it and we'll return.
