Top 5 Comedy Clubs in Seattle, Washington (WA)

October 5, 2021 Weston Hennigan

In Seattle you simply can’t skip the Central Public Library – a modern architectural marvel of glass grids, unusual shapes, and a “book spiral” that climbs four stories. Stroll over to Pike Place Market to visit the original Starbucks and play catch with a fishmonger. In the heart of the city lies Chihuly Garden and Glass, which will dazzle you with its colorful and delicate works. Glide to the top of the Space Needle for panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges and Puget Sound.

Seattle's own improvised theater company since 1992! Every show at Jet City Improv is a blast of brand new scenes, games, songs and stories, all based on audience suggestions and crafted into Seattle's best comedy by our seasoned improvisers. Any given weekend features new unscripted plays in the Jet City Improv Presents series, an original comedy series known as JCI Late Night, our flagship Jet City Improv show, and the popular re-dubbed film events known as Twisted Flicks. No matter your mood, there's an audience-powered good time waiting for you at our bright yellow theater. So come grab some freshly-popped popcorn, order a drink at the bar inside the auditorium, and enjoy what we like to call A Higher Plane of Comedy.

CSz Seattle

At CSz Seattle we do funny. Our comedians specialize in improv comedy, meaning our shows are based entirely on your suggestions. Our trained comedy professionals have no plan and willingly dive headfirst into almost any challenge the audience will throw at them, resulting in unforgettably hilarious moments. For those reasons, no two CSz shows are ever the same.

We make a point of bringing friends or out of town guests here. I never disappoints. Great for birthday celebrations and if you join their birthday club you get a free ticket. The fun spin of competitive improv is just so much fun! Lots of laughs and some really impressive talent on the stage. There is a lot of audience participation, but they never force anyone on stage and they are careful to make the early show appropriate for families (don't make lewd audience suggestions or you'll have to wear a paper bag over your head!). It's Freemont, so come early and have dinner in the area beforehand so that parking is not such a challenge.

Comedy Underground

Open seven nights a week in Pioneer Square since 1981, the Comedy Underground is among the most venerable nightclubs in the country. It’s philosophy of success is to present talented acts who have something incisive to say in addition to always being hilarious. Fans may not recognize all who appear here but we are confident they eventually will because our track record of presenting future stars is, well, out of this world. Name a major comedian: Ellen DeGeneres, Jerry Seinfeld, Mitch Hedburg. They most likely appeared at the Comedy Underground early in their career. Moreover, we are committed to developing local talent with an open mic on Monday, Call Backs on Tuesday and guest sets by worthy up-and-comers on weekends. We even help budding entertainment promoters by giving them the chance to produce here on off nights.

I've visited twice and had a great time both nights. The vibe is very relaxed and the staff are very welcoming. The first night I saw James Hancock III and he and his opening acts we're all amazing. The last night I visited was an open mic night and all of the entrants did very well. I'd definitely go again. I only wish the venue had the social media contact info for the people onstage available so we could follow them in the future.
