Top 5 Coffee & Tea Tours in Vienna, Vienna Region

June 17, 2021 Osvaldo Hartline

In Vienna, the coffee house isn’t just a hangout: it’s an institution. Lingering over a newspaper with a pastry and a strong espresso drink is, according to UNESCO, officially a Viennese cultural pastime. Walk off your slice of Sachertorte with a self-guided tour of the city’s stunning traditional, Secessionist, and modern architecture, such as the Imperial Palace, the State Opera House, the Kirche am Steinhof, or the Kunsthistorisches Museum, an exercise in ornate geometry.

I was on my 3rd tour with GTour yesterday and all of them were simply great. Yesterday we took the K&K Küche Tour (different food styles from countries that were part of the Austrian monarchy) and we have had a 5 course dinner in 5 quite different "eateries" in Viennas 2nd and 1st district - most of which I never heard of before (and would probably not have found either). The food provided was delicious (although sometimes a bit unusual - but you always get the opportunity to choose something different) and explanations and background information provided by the guide were very interesting and provided in an entertaining way.

We enjoyed the 30 min carriage ride and it gave us a little overview of what we would like to revisit. Our driver was very friendly although we did have a hard time understanding what he was saying he tried to point out the attractions and give us as much information as he could. The carriage though was a little worn out, a bit untidy and covered in tape which was a little off putting.
