Cattedrale Di San Francesco

Reviewed By Borzov - Rijeka, Croatia

The imposing cathedral in the historic center of the city, is dedicated to San Francesco d’Assisi. It was built in the early 17th century on the remains of the old smaller church and designed by the architect Francesco Navone. We were lucky to visit the city on April 28, during the celebration of Saint Fermina, the patron saint of the city, and enjoy the procession and all the festivities during the day.

Chiesa dell'Immacolata Concezione

Reviewed By TimDore - Marana, United States

We were walking around Civitavecchia having arrived on the Explorer of the Seas cruise ship and we discovered this little church. It is also known as the Church of the Virgin. Near the end of the 16th century a church was built on this site by the Franciscans. The church was restored in 1856. It is a short walk from the cruise ship port past The Michelangelo Fortress a couple of blocks on the left. It has some beautiful statues and art work inside. Highly recommend!
