Franklin House

Reviewed By andream0402 - Melbourne, Australia

Franklin house probably doesn’t get as many visitors as it deserves as it’s a little way out of the town centre. There was a bus stop right out the front though . Well run by lovely volunteers it has some very interesting pieces and a beautiful garden. Just $10 to enter and free for National Trust members. Andrew met us in the hallway and gave us an insight into the history of the house then we walked around ourselves. There are information boards everywhere. A hidden gem.

Albert Hall

What a great building and acoustics. We have been to many concerts here and actually played in some. A wonderful old building of Victorian architecture used for concerts and conventions, antique fairs etc. Its definitely worth a visit. It has a cafe attached and is 1 minute walk to City park where there is a monkey enclosure, beautiful gardens and children's playground. 10 minute walk from most major hotels in Launceton and across the street from the famous motor museum.

Duck Reach Power Station

Reviewed By klausvc2017

An amazing place, but you need to be reasonably fit to enjoy this attraction. Drive there don't bother with walking the Gorge track to get to it. This plant was started in the late 1800's and completed in early 1900's. The engineering speaks for it self, and you stand in awe just how smart our our people were back then and how hard everyone worked to get the job done. The site has a large TV presentation on the history of the power station and the floods that ravaged it in 1929 and the best part of of Launceston. All the breweries went bust except for Boags. Take a camera and walk up the other side of the ravine.
