You’ll find this place opposite the red & white mosque. It’s extremely busy at lunchtime with locals pouring in here for their lunch hour. Pretty quiet outside lunch hours and it does have a quieter first floor with balcony. My Caesar Salad was good although it could have done with more cheese and some anchovies in the sauce. My partner’s seafood chowder was a bit of a let down - too thin and full of chopped peppers and chicken (?). We’d come back here and stick to local favourites. The kotthu guy seemed very busy :)Thank you for the review. The downstairs is not part of Cafe1886 and we operate only in upstairs. your comments on the chowder is noted and will strive to improve.

Spanning from the southern peninsula to the Northern Provinces. Thailand offers a diverse blend of insanely delicious food. The south of Thailand is famous for its spicy curries, heavy use of coconut milk, and fresh seafood. Here at "SALA THAI" we assure

I ordered two chicken green curries and a vegetable dish as takeaway. The green curry chicken was delicious with a good quantity of chicken pieces. Mr Brain, the manager, also was very helpful in the selection f dishes.Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and is THE best thai restaurant in Kandy, hands down!

I can highly recommend this restaurant. We ate Chicken Kottu and it was the best we ate so far in Sri Lanka. The Owner is really friendly and the food is local, fresh and so tasty. If you are in Kandy you need to visit this place.

The highlight of our Sri Lankan holiday was the opportunity to be invited into a beautiful Sri Lankan home (with a stunning garden) and be taught step-by-step how to make several traditional dishes. The dishes included Coconut samball, Fish curry, Water cresse and Dhall curry. We even got taught how to get the coconut milk from the fresh coconuts and grind the herbs using a traditional hand press. After the amazing cooking class, we sat outside at a table overlooking the garden to enjoy the fruits of our labour. Every mouthful was delicious. We really appreciate our driver (from D.S tours) suggesting this, as we would never have had the opportunity. The dishes have been easy enough to make back in London as we have been able to source the ingredients really easily. Thanks
