Another good authentic restaurant. Their ceviche was wonderful as were their enchiladas. We would definitely go back.

The old saying “You only get one chance to give someone a good FIRST impression” is certainly true in this case. My spouse and I drove 45 minutes to have lunch at Gainesville Seafood Market. We have eaten at restaurants/markets similar to this one when we visit Louisiana so we were anticipating fresh abundance. You order at the counter and wait as your meal is prepared and brought to your table. There were probably 3 couples ahead of us so we did expect a short wait... which turned out to be about 40 minutes. The menu offered several combo meals but when asked if catfish and shrimp could be a combo, we were told no. So, my spouse ordered the large shrimp plate that included 8 shrimp, hush puppies, fries and slaw. I ordered the two piece catfish plate which had the same sides. We watched as the other customers were served, some of whom also got the two piece catfish dinners. The dinners looked great with two very large fish filets! Because we were sitting close to the counter, we heard the man who had taken our order say that there was only one catfish filet left and the cook said “Just cut it in half”. When we received our dinners, there was one filet on my plate and the man said, “you have two pieces of fish but they’re just stuck together”. As he walked away, we were just speechless. It seems that an opportunity was missed here. Would it not have been more customer friendly to admit that you ran out of a product but would offer a substitute? As we were finishing up our meal, that same man came over and asked how we enjoyed our meal. I asked him very politely if it would not have been more honest to admit that they had run out of a product and to offer to give a second filet of a different type or a substitute? He just turned and walked away without a word. So, we left with a not so good first impression and there probably will not be a second chance.Dear customer,As the owner of GSMKT, I would like to sincerely apologize for the negative experience you had at our seafood mkt. Went to Yellowfin with neighbors What a tremendous let down. The mahi was way salty. The fish taco was laughable. There was no fish in them. Sent them back because of no fish. They came back just plain puny. Would have given a score of one but our waitress was terrific and highly embarrassed of the kitchen. Good news a damn good dirty martini

Our server was just satisfactory. My dinner was just ok. The cheddar biscuits were probably the highlight of the meal. The fries were brown and tasteless. The mashed potatoes tasted off. Even the unsweet tea tasted old. The shrimp on my alfredo tasted like cheap frozen shrimp. The crab legs were amazing though.
