We visited on a Saturday evening. We made a reservation (recommended!) and got a nice table on the first floor next to the window overlooking the ferries to England entering/leaving the harbour. The fish menu was excellent absolutely fresh. We spend eu70 for two three courses menus, apéritives and both a glas of Chablis. Highly recommended!

I have eaten here many times over the years, and the service has normally been much better than this. For some reason my card declined - the same card I have used all week, all over Calais ... no attempt to understand or be receptive, I was somewhat summarily dismissed when I asked if there was a problem. I paid cash, which was fortunate, as I did not carry very much - and left, probably not to return on my next visit. The food is good, but not great enough for this level of disinterest. Would be worth remembering that tourists are at the mercy of the financial elements as much as the restaurateurs.

A tuesday night in March, we had booked a table for 7.15pm and when we arrived we were the only customers in the restaurant. Only one other couple entered during the entire evening we were there, so a lack of atmosphere.Service was entertaining. Madame spoke virtually no English and our GCE school French wasn't a great help - "La plume de ma tante" and "sur le pont D'Avignon" didn't really hack it. However we got by with a limited exchange of language and signs and Madame although a trifle eccentric was attentive. We had one of the set menus and the food was fine without being anything special. Nothing really to criticise but we left with a feeling that we could have done better. On our previous visit to Calais we ate at Le Channel, the restaurant next door, which is much better in our opinion.
