On our way back from Waging we stopped for a lunch. Biergarten looked ok from outside. Approx 8 to 10 table. Biertables very painted with oil colours, which was a bit strange. Ordering took long, as the waitress (elderly woman) was totally stressed and unorganized. Drinks and food took ages. However the quality was good Bavarian style. Paying was the next desaster, as the waitress was not capable of bringing the bill. Not again, our summary.

Great choice on the menu to suit most tastes. Limited wine list but fantastic Ice Cream menu & everything well presented. Mains are good value and good sized portions.

There are 2 ways to get to the cafe/restaurant in Altenmark. By road direct or the scenic route where you can park your car at Baumburg Cemetery and walk for 20 minutes on a lane through fields & a forest to get to the River Alz where you pull on a cord which alerts the ferryman to come & take you across the river to the restaurant (takes about 2 minutes). The restaurant pays for this service which is free to visitors.The food in the restaurant is 100 percent locally sourced and the food is made on site under the supervision of Stefan who welcomes clients. We stopped for tea and had amazing topfenkuchen - quark cheese cake with red currants, with homemade lemonade to drink. We could see that the restaurant was getting ready for an evening barbaque (separate meat, fish & vegetarian BBQs). We wished we could have stayed for that.

Ich war mit meinem Freund zum Abendessen dort.Sehr modern eingerichtet.Nette freundliche Kellnerin.Essen regional.Gebackene Champions Rinderfilet salate hervorragend.Auch die Nachspeise war lecker Das Restaurant ist empfehlenswert.
