Wildwood Restaurants

We were a group of 9 friends. Good variety of food with vegan and gf options. Service good on the whole. It's a big restaurant and sometimes it's hard to attract attention but no problems. My friend spilled her prosecco and received a free replacement which was very nice. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Wantage branch better than Didcot in my opinion.

We booked the Wilson Queen room for Saturday 11th May. Check in was 5pm, we arrived at 5pm to a locked reception, I used the outside phone and the lady said someone was on their way. We waited 20 minutes outside good job it was sunny! Lady apologised and explained where our room was (up the stairs, down the hallway and down the hallway)??? We were confussed as tp why we wern't shown to our room, we walked around u til we found it. We finally arrived to our room at 5.35pm! Room looked lovely, nice and spacious, 2 windows open so nice and aired out. Although on further inspection alot of the furniture was either very old and scuffed or broken I.e handles falling off, ripped armchair, someone's tissue in the bin. Pictures to follow. We went down for dinner at 7pm. Dinner lasted over 2 1/2 hours which was alot longer than we expected. We had 3 courses. All of which were lovely. The wait inbetween was not. There were a couple that were just finishing up as we got There, 1 man by himself and another couple that arrived near the end of our main, so it was nowhere near busy. They did however cram us all together up the top corner in an effort to make it seem a bit busy. There was no privacy between tables. Waitress was very friendly and helpful but a bit slow. Not what i expected on a Saturday night. When we finally got back to our room it was nearer 10pm. We were tired after dinner but wanted to make the most of our room with the Jacuzzi bath! This was so difficult to get right there was absolutely no instructions for it which would of helped a great deal, there was water shooting around the bathroom! We FINALLY figured it out.Our room was very quiet we didn't hear a thing all night which was lovely. Breakfast was alright we had a full English each and coffee. There were other bits on the table like cereal, yoghurts and cakes.Check out was 11pm on a Sunday so we went down to check out, there was no sign of anyone at all so we pressed the bell, we pressed it over 5 times and absolutely nothing! We left our key and left. Overall dinner was good but very slow service, room not up so scratch, no one at check in or check out. Not worth £120!Dear Kelly, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at La Fontana. We would like to inform you that we take all reviews, whether positive or negative seriously, and do our best to assess the fairness, the facts, the fiction and rectify any issues raised. Firstly, we feel that we should make you aware that we are not classed as a hotel, therefore do not have a 24hr manned reception. This is something that we obviously haven’t clearly displayed on our website and will make the amendments asap. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have checked our cctv system and can confirm the following:Your arrival was indeed at 17:00 and your check in was actually at 17:06. You state in your review that you had a 20 minute wait. This is an exaggeration on your part by 14 minutes. On reflection we feel that a 6 minute wait for an establishment with an unmanned reception is quite acceptable. The Wilson room is due its 36 monthly maintenance overhaul this year and we are already aware of the minor wear and tear issues raised. In regards to your evening meal. You arrived in the restaurant at 19:00 as you rightly stated, you then proceeded to sit outside until 19:27, presumably smoking. This wait period of 27 minutes is unfortunately beyond our control. You then chose to order each of your courses separately after each had been cleared. This unusual method of ordering does unfortunately incur a wait, as it would do anywhere. All of our food is cooked to order from fresh ingredients and we take pride in the fact that we serve quality meals, as you kindly state in your review. You mentioned that your meal lasted two and a half hours, yet the bill was settled at 21:24? You also mention that you went to your room at 22:00. Upon viewing the cctv footage we have observed you entering the garden immediately after paying the bill and staying there until 21:53. This (2nd) half an hour wait of your choice (after your meal) is also beyond our control. We can therefore confirm that your meal actually lasted 1 hour 50 minutes, which we feel is acceptable, especially when a customer decides to order each course separately. Regarding the jacuzzi bath, we were unaware that the instructions have been misplaced and will replace these immediately, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate genuine reviews however feel that this is an exaggeration of the facts. As previously stated, we have cctv footage of your entire evening (with time stamps) and will be appealing the review as we don’t feel that it is a fair or true assessment of your evening. Regards Mr and Mrs Merola

Every meal I have ordered has been very good, from chicken kebabs, chicken and chips, pitzas. they always deliver on time and the food is always nice and hot. my only niggle is they have put up the free delivery to £16.99 which is very hard to get to that price when there are only two of you.
