Menu very vast - so vast in fact we struggled to choose. In the end I went for the garlic mushrooms then vegetable lasagne then banoffee pie. Lovely food albeit a little stodgey! Our dog enjoyed the evening also although he wasnât offered any treats :(

An excellent establishment, if a little off the beaten track, but well worth the trouble.Very friendly and communicative landlady and clientele. No starters tried; sea bass and pork medallions were excellent and the lemon tart and cranachan equally as good. One well kept cask ale.Dog friendly as opposed to dog tolerant. We shall be back.

A short and pleasant stay in Bakewell and this was the best meal we had. Not an extensive menu but a good selection. My choice of the lamb main course was superb. A very pleasant atmosphere in a roomy restaurant - which is a surprise after seeing the small frontage. Not cheap, but good value considering the quality of the food, and good service. Strongly recommended.

Traditonal pub, with a modern twist serving a selction of well kept cask ales, and excellent pub grub.
A long way from home, we came to The Manners for lunch. Inside and outside it appears to be a no-frills pub. The food, however, is absolutely amazing. A high proporttion of items on the menu were either gluten-free or could be made so (important for us as one of us is gluten-free). One of us had cod wrapped in Parma ham with green beans and citrus cream sauce, the other had honey roasted belly pork on black pudding hash. Exceedingly generous portions, beautifully presented, exquisitely cooked. In decades of eating pub lunches and dinners, I do not recall one as good as this one at The Manners. With a side of veg, two lime and sodas the bill came to £33 - unbelievably good value. The super-friendly waitress told us that a husband and wife team own and run the pub and do the cooking. Well done to them and many thanks!A lovely place which we will be back to next year when we make our annual pilgrimage to the Rock and Fossil Fair in Bakewell.
