Reviews on Contemporary food in Faro, Algarve, Portugal. Faro is the best-known city in Portugal’s deservedly famous Algarve region. There’s an archaeological museum and a “Bishops’ Palace,” a Renaissance cathedral that was heavily bombed during World War II, but later rebuilt. Nearby in Estoi are Roman ruins, and Albufeira, also nearby, is a formerly quaint fishing village influenced by the Moors in the 8th century. It’s situated in a cliffside location, and has become famous for its beaches (there are 20) and nightlife.

A friend and I came for dinner one night. Since it was pretty early (about 20:00), we were able to get a table without a reservation. It was very beautiful outside, so we decided to sit in their outside seating area. To start, we ordered some of their bread/truffle butter and cheese. The entree that I ordered (pumpkin raviolis) was good, but after a bit, it started to feel a little bit too creamy and heavy. Honestly, what stole the show was the truffle butter and bread—after the first bite, I wanted to just eat the whole thing. It adds a nice salty, but rich taste to the butter, and coupled with the bread, it was definitely the highlight of the meal. In all, it was a nice night. The view was spectacular, the raviolis were quiete good, and the truffle butter was unforgettable.

Went there for lunch in a relaxed business meeting. They have dailies, but they are also presented as if you were in a gourmet restaurant. The food was delicious, and served very quickly. If you find yourself in the mood, taste the desserts, they are amazing! All in all, a great place to have a meal, in a relaxed environment, with friendly staff and a very good price. Yes! You'll be amazed on what you get for what you pay. Will definitely go back, frequently.Just a side note: It's in front of the university, so at lunch time during weekdays, it is packed, just go a bit outside 12:00-13:30, and you should be fine.
