Since 1922, it has been a spa town and located on the western shore of the Tegernsee Lake. It had a population of around 4800 inhabitants in 2014. The word "Bad" means "spa" or "baths", while "Wiessee" derives from "Westsee", meaning "western part of the lake". Bad Wiessee was first documented in 1017 in the tax book of the Tegernsee Abbey, encouraged to pay goods to the abbey.

The bar/restaurant is on the side of the hotel. Small place, I would say 20 pax, small open kitchen. The menu is small but all is made with fresh ingredients. The wine card is good as well. We enjoyed our evening much and had good food. A must visit when you are around. I strongly recommend.

We booked an apartment 100m away from the main building. Really nice and spacious, though I was informed that NOONE would tidy up my room during the 5-day stay - that's what happens for those that rent appartments!!! Excellent breakfast and really friendly front-office staff, couldn't say the same though for the restaurant staff...

This restaurant was recommended to us by locals. It opens at 17:30.We were in the mood for schnitzel. I had the regular portion and myHusband had the "RiesengroÃe" size which translated is "huge" and itWas. It took up the whole plate! The dinner was wonderful. It cameWith a lovely little appetizer and a fresh salad then the main dish.The only problem is that we were so full we had to take some home.Would definitely come back here again to eat! I would recommendReservations as it isn't that large inside. We were lucky the night weCame and there was room for us.

I just dropped-in, walking the street in search for a good place for dinner with me and my book on a dark October evening.... and Macksâl turned out to be an excellent choice for all factors important to me: ambiance (modern while cosy, mix of local guests and few tourists (like me)), choice of food (limited items but all very well prepared and very tasty) selection of wine by the glass and - certainly a highlight: friendliness and swiftness of service and kitchen. All that at fair prices, you canât ask for more!I can only recommend the place! Thank you for making that evening such a pleasant experience!
