So, new ownership and a name change. Is that it? No. There are also new furnishings and up-scaled decor. And as for the food -- well, truthfully -- Kazu was pretty good. Not great, but decent enough; reliable for a small (but gemlike) WV town. And the renamed resto -- Kome -- how's its food? Frankly -- and I feel bad about saying this -- it doesn't compare. And I feel bad because I don't want what I have to say to reflect poorly on the departed. BUT HOLY COW! The food at Kome is mind-blowingly good! Good? NO! GREAT! This was the third time we had the food. The second time, at lunch, everything was really good. And by "everything," I mean EVERYTHING. The food, the furnishings, the decor, and the service -- it's like all the servers had to take and pass a course on how to delight patrons. But last night was different. My wife and I had to attend a hearing so we ordered take-out to be ready at 7:15PM. I arrived at 7:15 and my order did, too. We took it home (had to watch the Nats crush the Stros) and dove in. The soup was great, and I don;t mean "great for Shepherdstown." I mean great for no matter where. My wife had a yellow curry as her main and she remarked that it was one of the best ever. It was. But my main -- the duck and pineapple -- was not good. It was exquisite. Cooked perfectly and tasting absolutely sensational. We both were hungry and ate until full...leaving about half of what we ordered for today at lunch, which I just finished eating. And loving all over again. This place is for real and should, in short order, ascend to the top of the heap. HOORAY! Did Shepherdstown ever luck out!!!!

The first visit -- months ago -- was an unpleasant experience; poor decor, mediocre (at best) food; awful service. The place was new at the time, and I had doubts about its staying power. Went there again mid-month: VIVE LA DIFFERENCE! The service was cheerful and attentive. It took awhile for the food to come, but only because each dish is made to order. My wife had a bowl of ramen with steak and other goodies; I had a bowl with rice, yummy raw tuna, avocado, carrots. Both dishes were first class, which is a good thing. Shepherdstown can always use another good restaurant.

Had lunch here today. The staff and service were very good. The food was average, with fried selections being a little too done. The courses were served too quickly, putting an end to my leisurely pace. Iâll make a second or third visit, to see if the food improves. I hope it does.

Quick, tasty, easy. This is a very typical Chinese food place with all of the food dishes, speediness, and value you expect with Chinese food. The portions are large. The service friendly. And it is very surprising about how quickly the food comes out.
