Los Sarapes Authentic Mexican Restaurant and Villa Tequila Bar

I had dined at this restaurant about 10 years ago and was looking forward to this return visit. Both the food and the experience were a huge disappointment. In comparison to other Mexican restaurants, most notably Senor Salsa, they fall way short. Chips and salsa, which are complimentary at many places, were $3.00. The pico de gallo was and had a bit of a snap, the chips were not so good. The noise level was extremely loud. We didn't complain but without prompting, the manager asked us if we wanted to change tables because we were next to a large group but the second table was not any louder. The food was served quickly, dare I say too quickly, suggesting that it was not individually prepared, and creating a pace that was closer to fast food than an enjoyable night out. On the other hand, service was not great, if that makes sense.A second margarita was ordered when the food was served but our waitress disappeared. By the time she returned with the drink, our meal was over, We accepted the drink but had already talked about canceling the order because it was so delayed.Food was edible but prices were somewhat high, given the fare, $19 for mediocre enchiladas. Interesting point they were listed as enchiladas on the menu and entomatadas on the receipt. The chimichanga at Cheesecake Factory is significantly better, which is a shame. We also ordered Flautas which were equally forgettable.I would have liked to try the special, but at 7:00 they were already sold out.

Some things here are good. But too many dishes aren’t. Had snapper special. Fish not fresh. Couldn’t taste the crabmeat because everything was drowned in a heavy, pasty sauce. Served over tacu tacu. Might as well have been a couple of slices of white bread for all its tastiness. Other dish was steak. Tough and overcooked. Waitstaff enthusiastic but amateurs. Didn't make for a good meal. Only in the burbs can you get away with such a lack of quality.hi Pablo, i am happy to hear you found some things at our location to be good, but I wanted to say that I am so incredibly sorry to hear about your overall experience with our red snapper and steak dishes. this does not come anywhere near our restaurant's standards of dish preparations. if you have the time, i'd love to hear from you, you can email me at [email protected] and we can further discuss a way to fix the situation!
