I found nothing remarkable about the preparation, freshness or flavor of the sushi we ordered. It was fine, but nothing different than run-of-the-mill sushi places we have been to before. On the negative side: 1) the prices were higher than I expected (our bill for two persons having one beer each was $65), 2) the ambiance looks and feels like an all-u-can-eat restaurant and 3) the service was slow. Needless to say,we will not eat there again.

If you are looking for a wonderful sushi fix, this is your place. You absolutely must try their California Crunch Roll, Dynamite Roll, or Little Mermaid Roll, to name a few. We've had lunch here twice since our arrival in Phoenix a month and a half ago. An added bonus is this restaurant is located next to our favorite Thai restaurant. Two great places in one location. The restaurant interior is simple, neat & clean, with a no fuss atmosphere. The food and service is the true crown jewel of this restaurant. Is this a good place for kids? Possibly not, unless they like this type of food. No hamburgers will be found on this menu, just beautifully prepared Japanese fare.

Fresh Wasabi is in a strip mall near Streets of New York, Home Depot and Wal-Mart. From the outside it doesn't look like much, just another chain restaurant in a strip mall. The inside won't blow you away with decorations and atmosphere but it's very cozy - a nice place to go for a date night. Compared to Tomo in Goodyear, the roll sizes are kind of small but the food is excellent, they will make custom rolls for you which some other places will not do and the service is always very fast and friendly. The owner offers a military discount, which again, a lot of places around here will not do.
