I wasn't necessarily keen to eat Italian food while traveling around Nicaragua, but a lot of people have been saying good things about this restaurant and I finally decided to give it a shot.Don't expect an Italian-style pizzeria, as this is definitely a laid-back Nicaraguan-style beach establishment. The vibe is cool and relaxed.A small Greek salad, a small pepperoni pizza, and a beer set me back about 10 Canadian dollars, which isn't that bad. The food was good, no doubt about it, but the service a bit so-so.I had to get up and go order at the bar, even though there were only 3 other clients in the restaurant when I showed up.Although other places offer better value, Dulce Mareas remains the restaurant to visit if you're in the mood for a tasty pizza.Would go back.

Mamas is located on the beachfront in downtown Las Penitas. It has indoor and outdoor seating, and has great pizza for an inexpensive price. Pizza is the specialty, but they have some other yummy items on their menu as well. Manager Mike is very friendly and jovial, and we were surprised how fast our orders came up. The owner has just opened another Mamas pizza in downtown Leon, and is turning his beautiful home on the beach in Poneloya into a B+B. We stayed for 4 nights, and it was fantastic. Beautiful family, great pool, wonderful food, and beachfront, close to restaurants and stores. Check out Mamas, and if you need a great place to stay, ask about the B+B. I highly recommend both! Shout out to Mike, Michel, Charlene, Stephanie, and Daisy! Love you guys!
