A group of us from work had dinner here recently. I ordered fried rice with vegetables, but there was hardly any vegetables. However, we also had pre-ordered their large snapper (fish, for $49.50) which was alright. The place is unpretentious ie basic, not fancy, food was generally tasty, located not far from the CBD and parking was easy as generally is in Cairns area BUT the place was extremely noisy, peopleâs voices were echoing off the walls, we were like almost shouting across the table to be heard, not sure why. This was the only drawback.

Disappointed to see a such an iconic Cairns restaurant still using plastic straws. They are very behind here. Not many vegetarian options either. I ordered the vegetarian pasta with a side of green beans and it was very yummy.Hi Kim,Glad to hear you enjoyed your meal at Dundee's on the Waterfront thanks for reaching out and its great to see how passionate you are about the local environment and eco system. Both Dundees at the Cairns Aquarium and Dundees on the Waterfront use Austraw OXO biodegradable straws for all our straw products and our takeaway coffee cups are biodegradable eco cups, this is clearly stated also on our drinks menu.Please see the attached information on this particular product-The Eco-Straw is made with an oxo-biodegradable additive âReverteâ at the manufacturing stage which turns ordinary plastic into a material with a different molecular structure. After a period of useful life, the Eco-Straw will breakdown in the presence of oxygen. We visited twice for dinner and once for drinks and each visit was very good.The wait staff were friendly and helpful in selecting drinks and during happy hour very good value.We dined twice and had the Spanish mackerel twice it was that good. During our second visit it was a 2 for 1 night so the second dish was free - a real added bonus.Would return and would recommend.Thank you for your wonderful review!
