We ended up stopping here for lunch on Boxing Day as the usual place the tour guides take people was closed, and it was the only place open on our way to Mpumalanga, but apparently the tour company is known to the employees and they are used to large groups arriving at short notice - Laramie is a small town and apart from locals, I can't imagine many people stopping here if they had alternative options.Despite there being may free tables, it took us ages to be seated (on a dirty table with glasses and bottles from the previous diners) as opposed to a clean one - I think it was simply the closest to where we soke to an employee. We waited for around half an hour after having been seated to get someone's attention so we could order a drink, and when said drinks arrived ages later the waitress left two unopened bottles of beer on the table and disappeared (they weren't screw-tops like some in SA), so it took even more time for someone to come with a bottle-opener, and when they did they ended up taking some glass off of the bottle-neck along with the cap rendering the beer undrinkable - needless to say another wait ensued.Trying to order food was equally trying - apparently the waiters and waitresses were told we were all part of a group and had an hour or so to have lunch (it is a burger/steak place after all - not fine dining by any means) and yet after about 45 minutes, nobody had come to take our food order. When we finally managed to press-gang someone into taking our order, it wasn't the person who we had ordered the drinks from, so there was more confusion, but the food did arrive relatively (to the drinks) quickly, but starter and main together, without cutlery or condiments. It seemed as it, because it was Christmas time, the restaurant had hired all the local teenagers for that day, despite having no experience, clue or guidance from their colleagues. There were lots of people 'working' i.e. present in the restaurant, but groups of them were chatting about stuff, rather than serving the customers while one person answered another's question - it didn't need a debate. The food, however, was pretty good and it was unfortunate we had to wolf it down in order not to delay the tour bus too much.Just to put icing on the cake of ineptitude, our second waiter looked aghast when I paid without leaving a tip for such miserable service.Dear Mono_Jockos,Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. We're so sorry to hear that this was your experience. If you wouldn't mind forwarding this review on, together with your contact details to [email protected]. We'd really like the opportunity to discuss this further with you and hopefully turn it around. Kind regards,Spur Steak Ranches

We stopped for breakfast and were very disappointed. The service was almost non existent even though there were plenty of waiting staff. I requested eggs over easy and they were done raw, Sunnyside up. W hen I eventually attracted the waitresses attention, my companion had already finished his breakfast. The eggs were taken back to the kitchen and returned still raw so I couldn't eat them. I mentioned this to the waitress who was totally apathetic. I certainly will NOT be going back. What a disappointment !

Our tour group stopped in briefly for a rather late lunch, and found the staff friendly and good great. Would certainly choose too eat here again if passing through.
