El Nido

Reviewed By BarbS527 - Roseburg, United States

Amazing sanctuary for endangered birds with chances to see some exotic and/or rare species up close. Who knew that female quetzals are so friendly? Originally a private breeding facility and safe haven for many birds, reptiles, and big cats, this special place is now open to the public. Excellent student-aged guides explain any and everything in a manner understandable to young children and older birders alike. Alert: the guided tour lasts 4+ hours, so be sure to eat before going. Cafeteria break after 3 hours was most welcome!

We went to Zoofari as a COVID friendly experience since you can be in the car all the time. This was excellent. We had a lot of fun and seeing all the animals and feeding them is great for kids. Our car unfortunately broke down during our trip and the staff at Zoofari were not only helpful but also went above and beyond for us to be able to still enjoy our experience there. They help us try to jump start the car, they took us to other parts of the zoo so my nephew would not get restless and they were so professional and helpful with the best attitude. A special thanks to Mr. Luis Carrillo who made sure we were ok at all times. Thank you zoofari. We will be back to finish enjoying everything!

Wear comfy shoes and walk down its bridges and the riverbank of the Orizaba River where you will appreciate the combination of a historic colonial city with an extraordinary environmental setting. You will find an Animal Sanctuary, which is one of a kind in the State of Veracruz. This Animal Sanctuary has allowed the captive breeding of endangered species such as the jaguar. Other animal species you will be able to see here are: tigers, dromedaries, crocodiles, black bears, spider monkeys and many more!

Was a nice and great place to visit. I went with a group of friends. You can walk around the Paseo de los Artistas o Paseo del Zoologico. At the paseo de los Artistas you can walk near the Orizaba River and you can see a lot of beautiful arts and paintings, and to the other site of the river you can see the paseo del zoologico, and there you can see a lot of beautiful animals. You can have a great time.
