March 18, 2022 Kaleigh Reichenbach

This small, hilly island between Sicily and Tunisia is growing in popularity as a tourist destination (so if you’re like us, you’ll want to get there soon). Rent a moped to explore. One must-see: the island’s thermal pools. Beaches are rocky, but offer great snorkeling just offshore.

Azienda Vinicola Gabriele

Our company has been active in Pantelleria since 2015, although the family's wine tradition dates back to the years after the war, when Giovanni was the first to start this activity on the island and beyond. From the very beginning, our aim has been to offer a high quality product that reflects the exceptional territory that the island of Pantelleria offers. This is an ancient history, a history inextricably linked to the place where it takes place. To tell it, it is necessary to fly on the handkerchief of land that has given life and keeps, a passion that has its roots in the past and turns its proud gaze to the future. Pantelleria. An island in the Mediterranean, halfway between the Italian and Tunisian coasts, a set of lava rocks that still let’s feel the power of the fire that generated it, with its jagged coastline that plunges overwhelmingly into the water creating depths that fill the eyes of the beholder with infinite shades of blue, blue, green.

Cantina Mueggen di Salvatore Murana

Salvatore Murana has always had a passion for wine, ever since his childhood he breathed, lived and experienced harvesting and winemaking. This "love child" has become, before intuitively and then consciously, a "lifestyle choice." So, in the 70’s the first nucleus was born, later to become the Salvatore Murana Wines factory. For six generations of Pantelleria winemakers, we have been devoting body and soul , initially to growing of the Zibibbo grapes and then to wine production. The fundamental principle of our family-run company is assimilation of the culture of respect for our own territory and sensitivity for dialogue with nature, pursuing a harmonious balance between our farmers tradition and innovative winemaking skills. "It's the deep breath of the volcano, it is the ancient passion that drives us forward and influences all of the choices that day after day, season after season, always with the same enthusiasm, they push us, to the continuous winemaking excellence, capable of bring out full the typical characteristics of our territory ". The wines and the oil we produce, in fact, are one of the few cases in which we can say that the territory itself if in question! Tasting our products, you can find Pantelleria in its complex organoleptic aspect, it is not just the wine, but poems spill into the glass. Since the 80s we have provide the palate with authentic masterpieces of wine immediately brought to the attention of the wine industry, and since then, prizes and awards have multiplied with numerous certificates of appreciation by experts and institutions, both Italian and international, becoming part of the recent history and beyond. The centuries-old vineyards of Salvatore Murana currently count approximately 17 hectares of land, a young volcanic land, in different locations for different climatic and geological conditions: Martingana, Gadir, Mueggen, Khamma, Coste, Ghirlanda and Barone. Specific grounds with unusual characteristics for specific productions, sharing the personality and character from the producer itself. Only in this way can we create the greatest “sweet wine of heat” in the World . The heat wines must be able to tell the story to those who drink them, be long-lived, without being cloying, kindling a smile to those who drink them anywhere in the world. This is what we have been proposing for 40 years up until now, with our 10 different proposals that fairly reflect the ideas and choices of their "author" in complete symbiosis with the territory. Respect for the environment and for its integrity guide all our actions, the production chain, in fact, is carried out in Pantelleria, bottles, cartons, caps just breathe "our air" seasoned from the sea and the “zibibbo”; so that each one, opening a our bottle can be catapulted on our island and understand the love and respect that we have for it. Each product brings to mind a unique experience, allowing us to relive feelings of pure joy, typical of children. What our company offers as a goal is to introduce this unconditional passion for the land, passing on the nature through the exaltation of the same in its transformation.
