Top 10 Water & Amusement Parks in The Ardennes, Wallonia

October 24, 2021 Nicolette Lion

A smorgasbord of flavors come from this lofty land in the hilly southeast of Belgium: game, wild boar, venison, smoked ham, the region's famous paté and world-renowned Trappist beers. Primarily located in Belgium, the Ardennes mountains also nudge into France and Luxembourg. Dense forests flank the steep hillsides, and market towns and villages perch on river banks. Spring and summer show this lush area at its best, but cross country skiing opportunities make a good case for winter visits.

We visited Dinant in the late afternoon on the way back from Luxembourg to Brussels. The cathedral was already close but walking by the river, and along the streets of Dinant was wonderful. The sun was already setting down, and Dinant at dusk was enchanting especially as the lights were started to get reflected in the water. We stopped by the place of Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the Saxophone, and had fun taking selfies with his statue at the front of his place. The 13th Century Gothic Collegiate Church of our Lady is a very imposing structure but I loved looking at it from the bridge getting into town. The birds chirping on top of the imposing front doors of the cathedral were very charming as were the various saxophones placed along both sides of the bridge leading into the city. We also walked to their City Hall, and it was very quaint with a fountain in front full of greenery surrounding another huge saxophone made of glass. Looking forward to another visit there!

Had a brilliant time here! 8 adults really enjoyed our afternoon on the Chair lifts, the bob sleighs, water slides and rollercoasters! Very clean park and was lovely that it wasn't busy so no queues. We all thought it was great value for money! All the rides are very tame (meant for small children rather than adults) but we absolutely loved it! Especially the Vicky rollercoaster and bob sleighs
