Top 10 Water & Amusement Parks in South Holland Province, The Netherlands

December 18, 2021 Natalie Tallman

Encompassing two of the Netherlands’ three largest cities (Rotterdam and The Hague), Zuid-Holland (South Holland) is also home to important towns like Leiden, Gouda and Delft. And many lovely smaller towns dot the gorgeous green landscape. Alphen aan den Rijn has several interesting attractions, including Dutch history theme park Archeon. Picturesque Kinderdijk, birthplace of the legend of the Cat and the Cradle, also has many windmills that together are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

I thought this was an interesting way to see some of the places that are in Netherlands before going to see them in person. Great for kids to visit. The displays are very high quality. some with moving parts. We bought the 3D photo miniature of us, the statue is exact. A neat souvenir to have from Netherland.

BuytenDelft

At BuytenDelft there are a lot of animals to cuddle and to see. During the weekends you can take a ride on one of the pony's or we turn on the fire place to bake your own bread or to pop some corn. Next to the farm there's a big playground. During the summer season kids can play in the water (€2,-p.p.). During the winter season the playground is open to play (free). There is a little lunchroom where you can enjoy pancakes, sandwiches, soup and more.

This was a fantastic experience. My wife and I took our 7 year old daughter here and I was a bit worried she might be a little too young for this. I was wrong. It was perfect for her and we could have spent more than a day here. It had far more events than I could have ever imagined and was great from the very first minute we arrived at 09:30. Plenty of shows, demonstrations and things to see and do....food was great and the staff were friendly and were enthusiastic....couldn't have asked for more. It's not just a farming experience, but a Dutch cultural experience too. We will definitely be returning and it was the perfect start to our 2020 summer holiday. I have personally mapped the whole park on OpenStreetMap so that you can get a flavor of what is there.

Duinrell Amusement Park

Reviewed By owens337

After a long drive from Gloucestershire, the greeting was warm and welcoming and we soon found ourselves in a basic duingalow for the next few days (bigger and better options are available). The Duingalows and amusement parks are set within beautiful woodlands with red squirrels and geese roaming freely After a well needed and comfortable sleep, we ventured into the amusement park which is free entry for residents. Although the park rides were dated, they appeared to be well maintained. The staff operating the rides were pleasant, however the locals were very rude at times, but obviously this is a cultural thing. Our first meal inside the park grounds was a bit expensive and to be honest not that great, but after talking to some other British couples, we found that a short walk out of the park straight over the road, was full of places to eat and reasonably priced too. Plenty of shops and a supermarket. The water park (Tiki Bad) brought out my inner child and had me grinning from ear to ear (felt like Napoleon from Bill and Teds amazing adventure!!!!). The prices, 5 euro each for 2 hours, 6 euro each for 3 hours, or 7 euro each for all day (These prices are for people staying within the park), however, once you are in, you cannot leave and come back, so we did the 2 hour stay, which for me wasn't enough!!!! We did visit the bar inside the park one evening, which had ten pin bowling, air hockey, pool tables and an assortment of games machines. We will be visiting again next year around the same time, as it's out of season and less busy than normal and will be doing a few things different, but the water park will definitely be a longer visit.
