McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park

Climb aboard the miniature replica of a Colorado narrow gauge railroad to explore this park that features famous railroad cars and an antique carousel.

This is a great way to spend a beautiful day in the Phoenix area if you have kids under the age of 5. There's a large playground and a model railroad for free, and for less than $20 you can buy enough tickets for a family of 4 to ride the carousel and the miniature train and visit the museum, which has real historical train cars to explore. There's tons of space for picnics and just running around, too.

Pinal County Fairgrounds and Event Center

The Pinal County Fairgrounds and Event Center is a multi-purpose facility with a variety of amenities. It features some of the best events in central Arizona. Events include the Pinal County Fair in March, the Agri-Country Bluegrass Festival and Car Show in January, Wuertz Farm's Gourd Festival in February, and the Arizona Classic Livestock Show.

The Gourd Festival is over for the season, but keep an eye open for next year. Live entertainment, gourd judging in the Pinal County Fairground building, hand-crafted gourds for sale from vendors from many states, gourd games for the children, live entertainment, food vendors, hundreds of dried gourds for sale just waiting for your creative ideas, lots of free parking and I must mention the play on the word 'gourd' which brought smiles to our faces. A very fun day.

This place has 4 golf courses, a huge arcade, and the amusement park with many rides. My only complaint is there are no multi-golf passes. It would have been nice to try a few of their courses but I was too cheap to pay full price for each round. Beware - there are only 4-6 rides for kids under 40 inches. They are only 1/2 price but they also may feel left out. Rides are long so you definitely feel like you're getting a good deal! We'd love to spend a day here again if ever back in Phoenix.

Amazing place to get away with the kids. Sunsplash the kids just cant get enough. Recommend they plant some trees for shade but otherwise great way to spend a summer day. The golfland arcade is a nice get away for the adults if you want to get out of the water and go indoors for a bit.
